I know Jersey but its that your from Jersey.

Keep holdin your own its obvious by this thread the Texans that voted yesterday aren’t that conservative at all, considering that most of them voted to raise thier taxes.

I’d take a dry Texas any day if conservatives were in charge. Before 1960, the state’s Democrats had a large conservative faction, and several governors like Coke Stevenson and Pappy O’Daniel were Jeffersonian Democrats, in favor of low taxes and limited government services. Even some 1960s and 1970s era Democrats like John Connally, Lloyd Bentsen, and Mark White were better than the current crop of RINOs like Rick Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchison.

“Plainview Texas voted to go WET, won by 36 votes. That alone tells you .. things are a changing in TEXAS! ;) ;)”

Polk Co. went wet last year I think. It was a real shock for me when I visited my folks, not to have to drive across the county line to buy beer.

Looks like voter fraud is alive and well in Texas.

I live in Texas too and I don’t know a soul who voted in favor of all but 3 or 4 of these propositions. Is there a breakdown as to what areas voted in favor or against? Were any of them even close?

these elections are cooked! I know, I live in Texas.

They weren’t all cooked, in Smith County we also had a vote on an overblown “Palace” of a new County Jail, which was SOUNDLY DEFEATED, in spite of the powers that be really wanting it.

I thought a couple of them deserved a yes and they got it but the rest were no and deserved it.

Apparently there are just too few of us who really think this stuff through and, beyond that, the folks we elect to represent us never should have allowed half of this stuff on the ballot in the first place. That was a cop out on their part and I won't forget it!

Many thanks - very disappointing to see how many voted for some of them. I have to wonder why people would vote for some of them at all.

I think a major problem is that the average person doesn’t realize that bonds=increased taxes. I voted no on all the bonds, including the terrible school bond issue that was on the ballot for my district. It’s really sad that people are so uninformed about these issues.

Another common practice here is the wording of the ballots. You practically need to be a lawyer to decipher what in the heck they say!

You practically need to be a lawyer to decipher what in the heck they say!

That is very true but the REAL problem, IMHO, is that we continue to allow the people we elect to represent us to shove what THEY are supposed to be doing off on the mostly uninformed public so that they can say WE didn't do it! YOU did!

Most of this crap should never have gotten on the ballot in the first place!
