Last Sunday the Iranians celebrated, yes celebrated, the 28th anniversary of the taking of US hostages at our embassy in 1979. They had celebrations outside the building, burning effigies of President Bush and burning both the US and Israeli flags. Iranian television re-broadcast the disgraceful scenes of the hostages being paraded in front of the cameras back then, and close up images of their faces. Their humiliation was there for all to see.
As this celebration was going on, Barack Obama announced that he will talk to the Iranians personally if elected President. This despite the fact that we have not had diplomatic relations with Iran since 1979 and their undisguised hatred of America. Obama knows that Iran has been responsible over the years for the deaths of thousands of Americans and Israelis. Either directly, as they currently do in Iraq, or through a proxy, as they have done with Hezbollah. Iran is a terrorist nation. But a President Obama will sit down and talk with Adolph Ahmadinejad.
Obama has also announced that he will never use nuclear weapons against our enemies. With one sentence he has completely neutered our nuclear deterrent. You may have noticed that President Putin of Russia has been more provocative and bullish of late. His bomber patrols violating airspace on at least 2 occasions in 2 different theatres of war, the appalling treatment of Secretary of State Rice and Defense Secretary Gates on a recent visit, the blatant support for Iran's nuclear ambitions and his threats regarding a missile defense shield in Europe. You may also have noticed Iran has been ever more defiant since Obama's statements. Boasts about sanctions not working, about the extent of their nuclear program and the continued threats against Israel, not to mention their continued meddling in Iraq. Both are rubbing their hands with glee and praying for an Obama victory at best, and a Democrat victory at worst, in 2008. Why? Simple. Mushroom cloud over New York? Lets talk. Mushroom cloud over Wahington? Lets talk (if their is anyone left to do the talking). Mushroom cloud over Tel Aviv? No problem. Arab/Israeli problem over.
Make no mistake about it. Any nuclear weapon created by Iran is a first strike weapon for use against Israel. The country as we know it will be destroyed. The Arabs surrounding Israel, regardless of any existing treaties, will invade and fight over what's left like jackals. If Democrats win in 2008 this will become a reality. They will do nothing to deter Iran from obtaining that nuclear device. They will use the UN and then one might as well just give them a bomb. Once Iran has it, if we get any warning, they will do nothing to deter its deployment and Israel will be no more. A Democrat administration will not lift a finger in response.
Now give Obama credit. At least his is courageous enough, and naive enough, to say this out loud. Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and the rest of the Liberal field feel exactly the same way. Appease Iran and all other enemies and let them know you would never respond with a nuclear weapon no matter what they do. They are not stupid enough to come out and say it and would simply lie about it if asked. But they all feel the same way and would act in the same way. The Iranians know it, Putin knows it, Al-Qaida knows it. All of our enemies know it. That is why they are all on bended knee, or prayer mat, praying for a Democrat victory in 2008.
Our enemies want them to win for a reason. Abandonment of the War on Terror. Troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan. Scaled back military. Closure of Guanatanamo Bay and the release of all prisoners both there and elsewhere in the world. No more monitoring of financial transactions, no more wiretapping. They wouldn't have to worry about torture, because we would never catch anyone. Cut the Defense budget and load the country with so many entitlements we could never afford an effective fighting military again.
After Israel is destroyed, we will be next. It will be relatively easy for them to get the device into the country given the Liberal stance on our border security. But the Israeli's have most to fear from a Democrat victory. With Bush, Iran is never quite sure what he will do. They know Olmert in Israel will probably not pre-empt them. So a Democrat victory gives them what they want because they know what a Democrat President will do: nothing.
A vote for Democrats in 2008 is a vote in favor of a Second Holocaust. Of course for the Democrat allies in Iran it would be the First Holocaust.
Invading and taking hostages at OUR embassy is an act of war. It's way past time to do something about that.
