I came across this 1973 radio broadcast of Mr. Springsteen live in the WBCN Boston studios. Brucebase has the details…

‘BCN was the best. Charles Laquidara, Ken Shelton, Mark Parenteau, and others made that station the only place to hear music in Boston.

I remember when this guy hit big in the early 70’s...the second coming of Christ according to TIME mag. Sounded lame then and now as well...I was a Bowie and NY DOLLS fan at the time and still am.

I remember all that. I don’t even like Bruce much but saw him at Cask and Flagon circa 1973. Supposedly Brae Ruth used to drink there

In between sets Bruce went to the bar and looked exactly like that photo. He was laughing and joking with his E Street Band five feet away from me

Back then he was called the next Bob Dylan

BCN, Cask and Flagon, good old days. I used to like Springsteen but his politics suck. Still like the music, though.

Springsteen had a couple of very good albums, before he really made it big. “Greetings From Asbury Park” and “The Wild, The Innocent, and The E-Street Shuffle” were his best work.

I grew up in south Jersey, so he was singing about places my friends and I knew. He was wildly popular there.

Things went downhill after he was “discovered”. “Born in the USA” was the beginning of his Hollywood-chic anti-Americanism. He’s sucked ever since.
