Embattled Gov. Spitzer yesterday for the first time pointedly refused to rule out shelving his controversial plan to license illegals. Spitzer spoke to reporters in Puerto Rico after privately addressing Latino lawmakers at their annual island conference......Spitzer's Homeland Security director, Michael Balboni, originally conceded to The Post that while the administration is "not there" in terms of pulling the plug, "after all that has gone on, you'd have to be completely tone deaf not to pay attention.

An NBC news poll on Hillary's negatives characterized her as polarizing, deceitful, liberal. Or as Freeper beaversmon posted: "those are Hillary's good atributes."

Ever since Hillary fumbled the debate quesiton on licensing illegals, her poll numbers have been in free-fall. Hillary's once-commanding lead in New Hampshire has been slashed - a sign that the simmering driver's-license controversy may have bled into the critical first-primary state, a new poll shows.

Clinton leads top Democratic rival Barack Obama by only 10 percentage points - 34 to 24 - in the latest Rasmussen Reports poll, her smallest edge of the season A month ago, Clinton had a 23-point lead in the same survey.

Last week, before Clinton stumbled in a Democratic presidential debate over Gov. Spitzer's plan to let illegal immigrants get driver's licenses, she led by 16 percent.

The survey also revealed that 66 percent of Democrats are against letting illegal immigrants get driver's licenses, with only 19 percent supporting the idea, an indication that Clinton's positive - but severely hedged - stance won't sell well in the Granite State.

A new survey in Iowa shows Clinton's lead dipping to just 3 points. She leads Obama, 28-25 percent, with Edwards at 21.

The aberration here is that Hillary did not lead the idea-----Hillary ran to it like a little girl to a stranger offering her candy from his open car door. She stupidly fell for the licensing deal hook, line and sinker.

Course astute observers know the Dims are hyphenate fellaters from way back.

The whole plan of Spitzer’s backfired big time. Instead of almost guaranteeing thousands of illegal alien votes for Hillary in 2008 her campaign has been seriously jeopardized. At least he’s done something right...

Smart Republicans should start ballot referenda on licenses for illegals in all states that are anticipated to be even slightly close in 2008. This will get voters to the polls like gay marriage did in Ohio in 2004.
