"I am very much against guns and think they are awful things. Killing in any war is awful and I am against this violence.

I don’t think this lady is quite up to speed on the concept of a “remembrance day.”

What does she think?

Playing ‘patti-cake’ and sharing your cookies prevent terrorism and war?

Where was this visionary during WWII? Should have just let the Nazis carry on - no sense interrupting those orderly death camps.

The end of the article notes another stupid ban that riled some Brits. Poppy wreaths were banned from a mountaintop Remembrance Day service (an annual event for almost 90 years), because the local hiking club doesn’t want to clean up the “disintegrated, soggy poppy waste.”

"Killing in any war is awful and I am against this violence."

Well, I suppose so. There are any number of examples of people who deserved killing though.

One story I remember from the History Channel was told by an American fighter pilot from WWII. He was in a battle and noticed that a German pilot was killing American pilots who were parachuting after their planes were damaged. So he got behind this guy and picked at him and picked at him and forced him to bail out. Then he shot him. I thought, good! He deserved it!

“credited to George Orwell”

but never confirmed? In any case, he should have said it.

Western Civilization is finished

If we can't have guns we will have to live under someone else's gun.

If she's not gay, some reporter should ask her if she only
dates men that "shoot blanks".

Pacifism, as George Orwell understood correctly, is to enable the triumph of totalitarianism by default. The truth is war does settle things quite nicely when the good guys have the will to win it decisively.

That's a pity. Seeing how .50 cal BMGs were the American standard.
And the b@$tard didn't suffer nearly as long as he deserved.
