CINCINNATI -- A lawyer for the man accused of raping a University of Cincinnati student said the encounter could have been consensual because the woman has a history of sleepwalking.
Dexter Ford, 52, is charged with raping the 23-year-old woman early Thursday morning near Interstate 71 in Cincinnati.
Ford's lawyer, Jeff Adams, said prosecutors told him the woman takes prescription medication and has a sleepwalking condition, a fact that will likely be the core part of Ford's defense.

I had a hallucinogenic reaction to Ambien the one time I took it as well. I was still lucid enough to understand what what happening, but I saw psychedelic patterns within 20 minutes of taking the drug, almost went off into a bad trip, and had some really, really odd dreams.
Warm milk and turkey (triptophan) is much safer....
“Someone put him in a head gate, I sometime sleep walk with my castration knife.”
Dip him, implant him, and dehorn him also.
“OMG! This guys deserves to be under the jail.”
No doubt.
Sleep walking I understand. Winding up outside I understand. Being accosted I can understand. Being asleep when the officers showed up after being raped. Now that I don't understand.
AMBIEN! I had terrible experiences while taking this drug. I almost burnt my house down. Gained a lot of weight during sleepwalking/eating. I have a friend who’s a cop. He’s told me stories about pulling over sleep walkin’ drivers! Always AMBIEN! DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG!
Yes and the scum bag lawyer arguing in his defense. Oh the hunanity.
Well, the guy is entitled to a defense. That is exactly why I couldn’t be a defense attorney. I don’t know how they sleep at night.
A fitting quote for Hollywood writers, as well.
“A fitting quote for Hollywood writers, as well.”
The quote below is even more fitting for Hollywood writers
I found how the World had been misled by prostitute Writers,
to ascribe the greatest Exploits in War to Cowards,
the wisest Counsel to Fools,
Sincerity to Flatterers,
Roman Virtue to Betrayers of their Country,
Piety to Atheists,
Chastity to Sodomites,
Truth to Informers.

Perfect! I shall borrow it, if you don’t mind.

I’ve used Sonata without any problems at all, and haven’t heard reports of Ambien-type problems with it, though I’ve also read that at least theoretically all hypnotic type sleep aids could have the same side effect. I haven’t read the details of dosage effect on the incidence of bizarre side effects. Since drug makers and doctors often routinely recommend a high dosage, i.e. one virtually guaranteed to deal with the problem it’s supposed to be addressing, but not necessarily balancing that with the risk of side effects. I usually only take half the smallest available capsule of Sonata, and believe me, opening up that little capsule and measuring out about half the powder inside is a big nuisance.
As for your Ambien experiences, look on the bright side: You didn’t end up on the side of a road, letting this scuzzy-looking career criminal have his way with you :-)
“You didnt end up on the side of a road”
Well,,, that’s true. But I didn’t wake up until the smoke reached the floor, where I was reclining watching a tv that wasn’t turned on! I still wonder what show I thought I was watchin’.
Glad you lived to tell the tale. You’re probably the only person on this thread who can fully appreciate that this young lady actually COULD have said “Yes” to this creep. Creep still should have been able to figure out that the young lady was somehow impaired, and that he shouldn’t assume a 23 year old was actually consenting to participate in this act with a complete stranger on the side of the road. Lock up the creep and take away the young lady’s sleeping pill prescription!
Did you guys see the guy’s pic? As if anybody would “consent” to sex on a STREET CORNER with a filthy 54yo homeless bum if they weren’t comatose.
You know, my Doctor still doubts my story. But he’s a busy young guy, with a growing family, and I think I’ve done a lot more investigating about AMBIEN than he has. He pretty much gets his info from the drug salesmen/women who bring catered lunches to his office every day. I did have a history of sleep walkin’ as a youngster, also my Dad and Grandfather. Bad combination with AMBIEN!
I now take Lorazepam. Habit-forming, and not as effective. But I’m 61, only takin’ one a day at bedtime, so I’m not very worried about the habit-forming aspect. Besides, if you just reduce your dosage over a 10 day period, it’s not hard to quit. It’s not like smack or nicotine!
I know, what's wrong with HIV infected rapists these days?
