Sheesh 4 years? I wonder if he had any other record.

How often have you heard of armed robbers or serious violent criminals not getting 4 years?

So basically any parent now monitoring their children on the internet will now go to jail for multiple years.

Parents montioring minor children are specifically exempted.

What about employers monitoring people on their company computers?

This law should be struck down in court under equal protection.

My husband is going through the police academy, here in TX. He recently informed me that he was surprised to find out that the statute was written not based on the computer ownership or passwords, but based on the email account password.

So basically the state of Texas has made it illegal to access an email account that is protected with a password without expressed permission from the person who owns that email account.
