Along with the killing of Thair Malik, the Task Force captured Yasin Turki Mahmud Slaih and Marwan Abdullah Ahmad Abd, two members of al Masris personal security detachment. Both of al Masris bodyguards were captured near Tarmiyah. Forty-five senior al Qaeda in Iraq leaders were killed or captured in October alone.

We're on a roll Yes, I think the Concerned Local Citizen program they have organized with the sheiks and has caught fire throughout the Sunni regions and not a few Shia regions is the most hopeful long term, systemic, solution. Empowering locals to conduct their own security is the way.

Oh yes! Intel ... good intel is
the key to our success.
God bless the good Iraqis and the
unbelievable decency, fortitude and
ingenuity of our amazing troops.
The character of the American soldier
finally winning the trust and hopefully
hearts of those decent Iraqis who
truly want to live in freedom and peace.
God bless and protect our troops
eternally for all they’ve given
and done. It’s truly breathtaking.
Bush/Petraeus ... history.

This is definitely not good news to 'some' people...
May God bless and protect our troops
and their Commander in Chief.

Is it legal to kill or capture enemy forces in a war?

Malik's close proximity to al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Ayyub al Masri should not go unnoticed. Yesterday Colonel Bacon noted that two of al Masri's personal bodyguard were captured last month. Hunting Masri.
