Hillary Clinton to speak at Rick Warren's church

Senator Hillary Clinton (D-New York) will join Rick Warren at his California church this month for an AIDS conference.

Warren says he has invited several other presidential candidates from both parties to attend his third annual Global Summit on AIDS, but Senator Clinton is the only one, so far, to confirm. According to a press release, others who have expressed interest and currently are dealing with scheduling issues include GOP presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, and Rudy Giuliani, and Democrats John Edwards and Senator Barak Obama (D-Illinois).

According to Warren, "Inviting politicians from different perspectives to the Summit is not a political decision -- it is a humanitarian and Christian action." The Summit is scheduled for Nov. 27-Dec. 1 at Saddleback Church, Warren's church in Lake Forest, California.

Obama was one of the speakers during Warren's Global Summit on AIDS last year, as was Senator Sam Brownback (R-Kansas) who last month withdrew from the GOP presidential competition.

Do you think that Warren will tell Hillary to, "go and sin no more" like Jesus did when he interacted with a certain sinner?

Can you cite an example from Scripture that demonstrates the methodology which you propose and support: A Christian working with unsaved person(s) in order to solve a social issue?

HE does not put aside anything to have these people speak ———— good grief. All kinds of people came to tell us what could be done to help our neighbors in New Orleans..... did we compromise the Faith to listen to them and even act on some of their ideas?... did our commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ waver? How wrong to think as believer we should not talk to powerful people about large problems.

I think there is a responsibility of the church to not put someone at their podium to speak on any subject, if that person doesn’t believe what that church believes.

I am not a fan...some people truly are able to make thoughtful evaluations of situations without favortism. Maybe that is your problem, usually we accuse others of our own methods/actions. If Fred Thompson was the only one speaking would it be O.K. with you?

My wife wouldn't have an auto accident inside the four walls of my church!

And furthermore, the Church, and it's pastors, were not directed by Jesus Christ to be first-responders to the scene of an accident...They were directed to feed and protect the sheep and to go make disciples (teaching them to be obedient to Christ's commands).

::::sigh:::: I've been trying hard to give Warren the benefit of the doubt, but I think he's crossed the line.

You are not compromised as a minister or a Christian if you work with others to accomplish a material goal. Warren is not asking H. Clinton to share the plan of salvation.

However, to 'partner' with Clinton is to give the impression of supporting her and her positions on the issues (abortion comes to mind).

I never said anything about not talking to anyone. I said he had to put aside his Christianity to invite some of those people -- like a MORMON for example -- to SPEAK in his church. You shouldn't waste your energy getting mad over something that wasn't even said.

Rick Warren is a PHONY.....sorry.

And perhaps...so much more!

Christians have the One-and-Only, greatest Hope (Jesus Christ)to offer the sin-soaked, AIDS-ridden continent of Africa and Warren chooses to lend an ear, and to give a platform, to what some consider a modern day Jezebel.

The best possible solution this potential Jezebel could offer to an AIDS sufferer is only of temporal relief and this so-called "solution" would ridiculously pale in comparison to the eternal healing power of Jesus Christ.

You said: You are not compromised as a minister or a Christian if you work with others to accomplish a material goal. Warren is not asking H. Clinton to share the plan of salvation.

So right there you admit he is putting his Christianity aside INSIDE HIS OWN CHURCH to accomplish this goal. That's what I said and you got mad at me.

I’m sure Code Pink and the Gay/Lesbian Alliance do self adulating good work like feeding the homeless once a year. Should “Christian” Churches partner with them too?
