Plame on Spy Movies and Going Hollywood
Politico.com ^ | November 16, 2007 | Jeffrey Ressner

Who by now doesn’t know the tangled, twisted story of Valerie Plame?

In case you just came in from the cold, the former CIA agent’s cover was blown after her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, wrote a blistering New York Times opinion piece charging the Bush administration with manipulating WMD intelligence to justify the Iraq war.

Then came Scooter and Judith and Karl; the clarion calls for frog-marching; the double secret background e-mails; the turning of aspens and the rest.

This month, the sexy ex-spy’s memoir, “Fair Game,” landed on bestseller lists. Earlier this year it was optioned for a Warner Bros. film produced by Jerry Zucker, (who co-wrote the “Naked Gun” series and directed “Ghost”), his wife, Janet, and Oscar-winning scribe Akiva Goldsman (who penned the screenplays for “A Beautiful Mind” and “The Da Vinci Code.”)

I interviewed Plame by phone earlier this week to discuss the upcoming biopic, as well the entire espionage movie genre:

Q: What’s the status of your movie project?

We have a powerful script. In my book, I tried to write as honestly as I could about the personal and professional aspects of my life. The script follows the book fairly closely, but obviously the writers take [liberties]. It’s factual up to a point, and where there were areas I couldn’t speak to them about, they drew from their vivid imaginations.

Two of our favorite pathological liars and narcissists are working on their movie.

She was not a spy so she knows as much as Al Broccoli did when he wrote 007.

I think they should get Jesse Ventura or that guy from “The Shield” to play Richard Armitage.

When I first heard they were doing this I asked if it was a comedy.

IMHO, this movie will never see the light of day and the option on her book was just a political payoff from H’wood liberals to their favorite pair of cartoon spies since Boris and Natasha.

She was not a spy so she knows as much as Al Broccoli did when he wrote 007.

She did, however, work in the WMD analysis section. Why hasn't she ever been called to task on the erroneous claim of WMD in Iraq. Somehow that was Pres. Bush's fault, though his information came from NSA and CIA.

LOL Good call....after that she'll hook up with a 22 year old studboy, dump her puke hubby in name only and have about ten times fifteen seconds of fame.

In the article, it sounds to me like she’s gunning for George Clooney. What do you want to bet she trades in old Joe Isuzu for a snazzier model?

I really hope Tom Cruise decides to produce this, and they spend $50 million on it. Hollyweird has already lost $22 million this year alone on America-bashing flicks.

The only film featuring Ms. Plame which would sell is a porno.

... the former CIA agent’s cover was blown after her husband...

Cover? IIRC, she had not been covert for five years when this happened. In order to have one's cover blown, one must be undercover and she was clearly not.

Narcissists! Damn them and their enablers :)

I’ve wanted to ask her if she was “undercover” why she was donating $ to liberal politcal campaigns long before she was “outed”. Great way to stay “anonymous”. BTW, who the hell would buy this stupid book? Even liberal house organs like the WaPo consider Wilson a liar.
