Why are so many people leaving the UK?
John Redwood's Diary ^ | 16 Nov. 2007 | John Redwood, MP

Posted on 11/16/2007 3:58:05 PM PST by DesScorp

The papers today ask why 400,000 left the Uk last year to live and work somewhere else. I would have thought the answer was obvious.

They’ve had enough.

We live in a country where anyone who has gained some qualifications, who tries to pay their own way and to live a decent life feels targetted by this government. We have our identity assaulted, our democratic views ignored, our pockets and purses rifled by the state, our opinions criticised or banned and the public services we do wish to use run incompetently or rationed for us.

Mr. Redwood is a Conservative Party MP in England, and he's lamenting what's happening to his country. More and more Brits, especially the English, are getting fed up and just leaving. He's referencing a news item about record number of Britons abandoning the UK and moving abroad. Its a stunning turn of events, and one has to wonder if it could happen here.

My financial planning is adapting to the very real possibility that my children should have the financial wherewithal to leave the US.

Its too late for me, and I’m not leaving outside of a box anyway.

I heard someone from the UK say a lot of the people leaving are immigrants. That was a couple of months ago either somewhere in this forum or in another forum.

Down here in Florida, the ex-Brits you talk to will say “the weather” if you ask them why they left.

“I heard someone from the UK say a lot of the people leaving are immigrants. That was a couple of months ago either somewhere in this forum or in another forum.”

Some of them are, but the original Telegraph story makes it clear that half of them are white, native Britons.

It can be argued that they are doing as they always have.

They are leaving the home islands for Empire countries. there have always been tons of expats in Africa and India and other colonial countries.

I’ve been expecting European white flight ever since I began researching Islamofascism and especially after reading Mark Steyn’s America Alone.

Redwood’s list is telling, but I wonder what the Europeans will try to do to the US.

Will they be more American than Americans, much like Mel Gibson and Russell Crowe are when compared to our homegrown Hollyweirdos? Or will they act out and lecture us to live under the failing ideologies they left?

I don’t suggest we go anywhere. I suggest we make sure it never happens here.

Just for the sake of discussion, were I forced (and I mean really forced) to go somewhere else to live, it would almost certainly be Australia.

I don’t think Americans will flee from Hispanics, Asians, Africans or any other group other than Muslims.

I love the UK and visit there. Lately I have felt uncomfortable for the very first time. It is a different country.

London Mayor calls for Press to rethink Islam

A NEW survey commissioned by the London Mayor has concluded that the media sees no common ground between Islam and the West, and that conflict between them is ‘inevitable’...

He NEEDED a survey for this happy fact???

I think and may be wrong that the Scots when they separate from the UK just may be the people who don’t give in. And I have hopes for the Irish.

Am I wrong? I don’t know enough to really know except that the Scots seem to have great backbone. The poor decent Brits who have always been our dear friends and cousins, seem to have been finished off. I pray I am wrong.

Fight!

>where would us conservative Americans Move?

Exactly. - What people are not waking up to - and they can wake up to - is the fact that there has always been a struggle between competing ideologies, cultures, societies, and the different lifestyles and outlooks attendant to those structures.

If we accept the notion that “diversity is strength,” then we have abrogated our own particular heritage, and therefore, do not deserve to be preserved.

This is extinction at a very real level, as we continue to abort our ancestors' unborn descendents at a shocking rate, embrace the dead end of homosexuality and other adverse lifestyles, are publicly educated that the noble sacrifices of our hallowed dead were worthless, that the originators of our culture were blood soaked goons, and that fighting for our own heritage is absolutely wrong at any level.

Nobody will band together and fight for those ideals.
In essence, they are our tombs, and we are the ghosts to inhabit them.

England should be in the dictionary as the definition of the phrase “Self-Inflicted Wound”. Were there only 6 popular movements advocating the following in England, 90% of their problems would be gone in short order:

1) Repeal gun control. Any citizen not convicted of a felony may have a gun for their personal protection, or to be used to stop a criminal act.

2) Restore the death penalty for cases of aggravated murder. Once guilty of murder, the convicting jury will be the sole issuer of the death penalty. Sentence may only be overturned by pardon or commutation of the Prime Minister or the royal person.

3) Non-citizens who commit criminal acts will be automatically deported to their nation of citizenship when their sentence has been fulfilled.

4) Three strikes and you’re out law.

5) Tent prisons will be erected in rural parts of England for any prisoners over the maximum held in brick prisons. There will be no early release for overcrowding.

6) A prohibition against any international or EU treaty that would restrict either Common Law or “The Rights of Free-Born Englishmen.”

my son emigrated from US to S Korea over five years ago...their tax laws were just too favorable over the onerous multiple taxes in California that from a business POV of a small business (only fifty employees) it just didn’t make sense to do business in California anymore. It would have been too much of a commute so he moved family to Seoul as well. Makes it hard on ol’ Grampa tho’...

Think of ALL of the young men and women (along with some not so young) that are fighting our enemies at this very moment. Add to those HEROIC Military men and women, American Patriots (like some here on this thread) that love GOD and Country enough to do whatever becomes necessary... and you can rest well... assured that there ARE Americans that will not go quietly into the night.

“I think...that the Scots...just may be the people who don’t give in.”

Sadly, a friend of mine just emigrated from Scotland (he came here for love) and, although he is a very decent guy, he is the most PC euro-lefite that I have ever met. He seems to have the will to “resist” the English, but not the muslims, or anybody else, for that matter.

I am slowly getting him to turn from the (leftie) dark side. Its all he has ever known, the UK being what it is.

This really is an amazing phenonmenon. People leave a society they are fed up with and go to a new land to seek freedom. However, after having a respite and tasted a different lifestyle for a while, they long for the familiar. As a result, recent immigrants often work to create the same kind of hell hole they left. This is true be it Muslims or transplanted New Yorkers.

you were right maybe a thousand years ago.

The Scots that I have met and trained here are some of the most liberal communist loons that I have ever met.

some of the English that I have trained have firmly stated that England would move about 180 degrees to the right if they could get Scotland to separate from the UK and stop sucking off of the collective tit.

I disagree to a point with that statement.

In England, many of the traditional dishes are regional and have been made with local products and produce. There is a good movement afoot to reintroduce these dishes and to use the excellent seafood, lamb, beef and vegetables. Rick Stein among others is a leader in this area.

You mean that the Europeans are moving off the continent because of all the New Yorkers who are moving in? That’s an easy problem to solve. All you have to do is teach the Euros one word: Forgetaboutit!!

It could. I know some who've already left the US (presumably) never to return, and others considering same. And none are liberal wackos.

Just watch out for that ex-pat-tax Congress passed ca. 1996.
