Thanks again for pointing out that third shot. Sounds like 9 seconds between the second and third shot.

Hope it wasn’t in the back. (o_0)

Make sure that the goblin needs killin’ for the reason that you are killin’ them and it is important enough to you to spend a year or so getting badmouthed by the cops, “parents” of the “honor student” and every liberal who hasn’t been mugged yet.

Calling 911 serves one purpose. It is your tin can and string connection to the cop shop and nothing else. Dial, request the Police with a very abbreviated reason and then hang up. The 911 operator will sooner tell you to shoot your dog so SWAT won’t have to than to shoot to defend yourself.

In this situation being an excellent witness might have been a better choice than the one that was made. I don’t know as I wasn’t there.

Your Statement: "...Some folks have been around long enough to remember how things are supposed to be in this country when it comes to holding bad people accountable..."

Response: " There comes a time in the history of every people when they become so pathologically soft and tender that they actually side with those elements of their society that harms them i.e. criminals..."- A Great Historian 1888

Comment: An applicable idea?

This was in Texas? Why did the guys have to break in at all? They should have just taken the sofa, refrigerator, 12” sylvania, and engine blocks that were on the porch.

And the shooter? What kinda shotgun? You get no style points for a Mossy 500 or such. Now if he’d had a cut down A-5 a la’ Clyde Barrows, or a 16 gauge M-12 you’d have to acquit.

Atleast with three shots fired, he didn’t break the law on having a gun for Migratory burgular species plugged.

The castle doctrine cleans up the nomenclature concerning one’s right to not retreat in one’s “castle” and a reduction in the likelihood of successful after the fact civil court actions. That is really all it does.

Texas Penal Code 9.41, 2 & 3 are still the governing law in Texas and understanding the provisions there in are far more important than the castle doctrine.

If you violate TPC 9.41, 2 & 3 then the castle doctrine means next to nothing.

This is my humble understanding of the law and has been reinforced by my discussions with LEO and civilian instructors.

PS: No matter how much you want to do not talk to the Police without a lawyer. I like most here do not have one on speed dial, but you do have a right to one and your best bet is to get your spouse or a friend to find you one quick.

Stay safe !

Considering the Demographics, I wonder how long before someone plays the race card.

I doubt you will see Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton or even Quannell X try to rally around these folks. They were not model citizens. They didn't appear to need killin as we say sometimes in Texas but then again they have not been doing the work of Mother Theresa most of their lives either.

One of the dead guys wife was crying on TV within the past couple of days. Rumor is that she's no saint herself. Not close.

It will be interesting to see how the harris County DA handles this.
