Senate GOP blocks pullout [Surrender] plan

Senate Republicans yesterday blocked a plan for a U.S. pullout from Iraq that Democrats added to a $50 billion emergency war-spending bill, delaying the funds until at least after the two-week Thanksgiving break and likely until next year.

The early demise of the bill, which fell seven votes shy of the 60 needed for final consideration, saved it from a promised veto by President Bush over the pullout timetable. It called for a withdrawal to start in 30 days with the goal of most U.S. troops leaving Iraq by December 2008.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Democrats had held 63 votes on Iraq policy this year and continue to waste time on ill-fated pullout bills.

"The message ought to be clear," the Kentucky Republican said. "We ought to get the troops the funding they need to finish the mission without restrictions and without a surrender date. That clearly must be done some time before we adjourn sine die for this session."

The headline on Yahoo! is, of course, “Democrats Unable to Bring Troops Home.”

I can’t see how the Dims would want the troops “withdrawn home”, when headlines every day would recount “civil war” blood and mayhem leading up to November’s election. Dims just want to keep this prospect in the news until everyone’s sick of reading about it. (Like gun control was to Bill.)

This call for a troop withdrawal (via funding blackmail) is not a function of Congress.

We can hope that the dems are resolute and stick to their lies, but they will not.
They will fold up like the empty suits that they are.

This is all noise and blather, signifying nothing at all in real life except that they have a bone and they intend to keep chewing on it.

Should they really not extend the funds, then their very own voters will be hit squarely in the pocketbook as hundreds of thousands of them are laid off and the troops continue just fine.

You see, the dems do hate using the military for any purpose except to provide jobs at home, and when those jobs are directly imperiled and their voters bitching, they will surrender, all the while screaming ”Its Bush’s fault!”

Maybe they should just say "Surrr-ren-der", like "byyy-Men-en", at the end of every campaign commercial.

Anyway, when the voters were sick of hearing about gun control, they responded by putting George W. Bush in office. Hopefully this tactic similarly backfires on these Democrats.

So the Dems may effectively freeze the funds because neither side can muster 60 votes. Here’s hoping some of them catch hell over the recess, especially the Republicans who are voting with the Surrender Party.

I wonder which GOP’r is going to continually offer this topic, over and over, to his RAT opponent to use as the sword for the RATS long over due, political hara-kiri?

Thank you, Senate Republicans, for blocking this surrender bill even though it had the funding in it for our war effort.

The Demonrats are such obvious traitors who are proving NOW just how a Demonrat “President” would devastate our military.....it is beyond understanding how any sane American wants them in full power.

But, then, I realize sanity is NOT the strong suit of the Dem supporters.

If the Democrats were people of their word (yeah, right), and they REALLY wanted to end the war, they would vote to defund it. It’s not subject to veto by the President, and they would have done it by now.

Of course, they don’t want to be stuck with the consequences of that action, which is why they are trying to pin it on President Bush. If they make him withdraw, then the blame’s on him. If he doesn’t, according to these bills, then the troops over whom he is Commander in Chief (according to that dust-covered document called the Constitution) get shafted, and that by extension would be Bush’s fault (with the help of the DriveBy Media).

I’m almost 39, in February. I’ve never seen such a blatant and egregious abuse of power as demonstrated by the Democrats. They did it in the minority, and were rewarded last November with the majority. I don’t know the answer to it, and some of my “solutions”, I’ll keep to myself. I just hope that there is still a remnant of the spirit of America that put Ronald Reagan and both Bushes in office (and more importantly, kept Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Gore and Kerry out of office), and that we will see that remnant by this time next year.

There has never been such a traitorous group in such power in this country before now.

Should they take full federal power, it will mean the suffering and death of millions.

Am convinced it is also a spiritual battle and prayer is out chief weapon.
