Global Warming Tutorial Media Should be Required to Watch

While media members fawn over Hollywood productions about manmade global warming such as Al Gore's schlockumentary "An Inconvenient Truth" and Leonardo DiCaprio's box office disaster "The Eleventh Hour," they should take time out of their busy propagandist schedules to view a lecture that Australian research professor Bob Carter recently gave.

In fact, it should be required viewing for any member of the press who wants to report about climate change, for it more thoroughly and concisely explains the science refuting the current alarmism than anything to date.

During the roughly 37-minute lecture given at the Annual Conference of the Australian Environmental Foundation on September 8th in Melbourne (luckily caught on videotape, multiple links to follow), Carter debunked the hysterical claims regularly espoused by warm-mongers such as:

* Today's temperatures deviate from historical norms
* Today's temperatures will cause extinctions
* Today's temperatures are caused by rising carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.

In fact, and not to give too much away, one of Carter's rather startling observations is that a greater threat to mankind moving forward is the cooling trend that has likely already started, and that all this hysteria over a nominal warming period is distracting us from preparing for the colder temperatures destined to come.

Too bad global warming believers prefer to listen only to the Al Gores and others preaching that man must give up his current lifestyle which, in reality, would have no effect on the climate.

The question now is, will common sense and good science triumph over the mad religion of “Global Warming”?

The threats are, firstly that there are research grants to be had. If you are a climate scientist and you are given a grant to find anthropogenic climate change, if you ever want another grant you had better by God find some anthropogenic climate change.

Secondly - and more threatening, politicians are figuring out ways to tax “Global Warming” and are creating bureaucracies to “control” it. There is no greater example of eternal life than a government bureaucracy.

If you are going to use science to argue religion, you have to have hard data.

The skeptics need to create a basic data table to refute the MMGW crowd. Each data set must have a source reference from a major scientific organization or journal. It must also be organized to include the various measurement standards and conversion factors, such and Gigatons and Pentagrams (roughly equivalent).

The table should start with total CO2 in the atmosphere, about 800 Gigatons.

Then it should have amount of natural CO2 sourced annually, and amount of natural CO2 sunk annually. With a breakdown of major sources and sinks.

Then it should have amount of man made CO2 sourced annually, and amount of man made CO2 sunk annually. With a breakdown of major sources and sinks.

Then, the cumulative amount of post-industrialism man made CO2 in the atmosphere, as a percentage of the total (determined by isotopic differences between natural and man made CO2). And association with what is believed to be the increase in atmospheric concentrations in that time (now said to be about 100ppm).

Much of the data used to support MMGW is both dated and cherry-picked. Therefore, disproving their theories needs current data in both a distilled and raw form.

The data list should have a list of the greenhouse *factors* (to include things like cloud cover and soot, not just gases and water vapor), and the greenhouse gases percentage of influence within them. And man made all greenhouse gases percentage of that percentage.

Then it should have a list of the greenhouse gases, broken down by gas type and its individual percentage of influence among the gases, both natural and man made. And man made CO2’s percentage of that.

Finally, it needs to include and quantify external factors influencing planetary warming, such as cosmic radiation and solar intensity.

Creating such a data table will aid immeasurably in refuting the MMGW crowd. And the sources will be cross examined, so need to be available online.
