A lot of mythology and revisionism down the drain. It's impressive that George Bush would have given Blair an "out", and more impressive the Blair with his eyes open refused it.
Comments on the story go in all directions.

Some cold hard truth for all those who claim Blair was Bush’s “poodle”.
Blair went to war simply because he thought it was the right thing to do.
A rarity in today’s political world - doing what’s right and not what’s popular. I have to give Blair a lot of credit for doing what he thought was right at a high political price. Hopefully history will be kind to both Bush and Blair.

I have been impressed with the courage of Mr. Blair. He showed that he was willing to do the unpopular thing, because it was the right thing, something you will never see most politicians do.

On Blairs handling of the war I must say that this reinforces my opinions of him. I think he did very well and was a loyal US ally.
On his domestic performance as PM I think he is a mixed bag. In his early days I could not have thought less of him, I thought he was a British Clinton clone.
I certainly still think that he was very bad for British civil rights.

Tony Blair: I wanted war it was the right thing to doYou would be correct, Mr. Blair, as history will remember, because most liberals will be illiterate by the time it is written.
