She thinks she's still San Francisco's mayor instead of being a Senator for the whole state.

This is more about San Francisco politics than the 49ers, but it is NFL related.

She may as well be doing that, at least she will be doing SOMETHING while getting paid by the tax payers.

Exactly. Last time I checked, Senator Feinstein is supposed to be representing the citizens of Santa Clara, the team's new proposed home, as well as the citizens of San Francisco. Her support of one side in this matter is unseemly and inappropriate.

Exactly. If she were trying to keep the team from moving to another state, that'd be one thing. But DiFi has no business meddling in a squabble between two cities in her state. I've always thought that she was one of the most overrated politicians. She says and does a lot of really stupid things, but the media rarely points them out.

How far is Santa Clara from San Francisco? Is it that far a move?

Interesting how liberals want to hop on board once the money ship’s about to sail.

About 35 miles straight down the freeway (plus on and off). The total's around 40 miles.

Hmmm, it’s not that far from SF. I wonder if they’d still call themselves the SF 49ers

San Francisco needs all the tight ends they can get/keep.

About 50 miles. Not far geographically, but most 49ers season ticket holders live south of San Francisco - Santa Clara would serve them better. Plus the weather in Santa Clara is 100% better than the windy, cold, soggy mess that is Candlestick Point. San Francisco's latest proposal involves an alternative site contaminated with toxic waste.

Yet another example of why I get so irritated with professional sports - you have to bribe them to keep them in your city - using what amounts to more taxpayer money for the bazillion dollar stadiums....

Someone care to share with me what is wrong with the 49ers' current home?

But I will say that Santa Clara is home to another championship organization...

The Santa Clara Vanguard

They probably could. Their headquarters and practice facility have been in Santa Clara for many years - next to the proposed stadium site. I drive by the location often and can't imagine how they could fit a stadium and parking in that space.

Aerial of 49'ers headquarters and training facility - proposed stadium location is across the street:

Since neither the NY Giants nor the NY Jets play within the state of New York, I don't see why they wouldn't. :=)
