Does anyone still wonder why college culture is the laughingstock of the larger community? Our campuses seem to lurch from one politically correct knee-slapper to the next. Does anyone crack a book at these places anymore?
Meet Gabriel Keith, an aspiring journalist who attends Minneapolis Community and Technical College. Keith has served as news editor of the campus paper, volunteering many hours and even quitting his part-time job when it interfered with the paper's needs.
Keith came to MCTC after three tours of duty in Iraq as a Marine. He saw some pretty scary stuff there. But now he knows that a combat zone is a Boy Scout camp compared with a standard-issue college inquisition in 2007.
We join Keith sitting in the college newsroom one afternoon last month.
He is lamenting the headache of student reporters' missed deadlines with fellow staffers. The group jokes about various tongue-in-cheek motivational messages -- an ice pick, a bloody knife and other fanciful instruments of discipline. Keith impulsively sticks a mock noose made from his sweatshirt drawstring to the ceiling, with a note about the hazards of missed deadlines.
The drawstring was there a few minutes, he says, and he tossed it in the wastebasket before he left.
Keith's antic raised the curtain on the politically correct circus-of-the-month at MCTC. Someone flipped the "I'm outraged, simply outraged!" switch, and Keith found himself at center ring under the Big Top after two black staffers filed complaints.

ARRRRGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
What’s next, “boycott cotton”?
I spent a bunch of time in VN during my time in the Navy. After getting an early out, I returned to college. I was the “old guy” (24) but in terms of maturity, I was light years ahead of my classmates.
Watermelon, the N word, the Confederate flag, the noose, more recently “buckwheat” - when do we poor non-minorities get to put together our list of no-nos (I nominate “Clinton” for the first item on the list whenever it happens)......
Oh, for crying out loud!
Semper fi, Gabriel.
Father Busted In ‘Attempt To Help Assaulted Son’
Michael Hennessey says that he was concerned for the safety of his son, Michael, Jr., 11, who attended PS 225 in Rockaway Beach. He and his wife, Margaret, were on the way to the school, he says, to get a safety transfer from the school so that his son would no longer be called names such as “Casper” and “Whitey,” and where he would no longer be bullied by a group of older boys.

Don’t forget all those black Nazi/Japanese and other war criminals that were hung as well...
Clinton, Casper, Whitey - it’s a start.....
There’s an old adage - - or maybe it’s a Chinese proverb - - that “only a fool argues with a fool”. Gabriel Keith should pack his stuff and go to a school with some sense of decency and fair play. There are a few. Leave the pathetic children of MCTC behind to pee all over each other.
Don’t forget fried chicken.
That story is....odd.
From the article:
“Her statement says that the incident occurred at 12:00 a.m., which would have made it midnight, hardly the time when kids would be at recess in the schoolyard.”
Also:
Dina Paul Parks, a spokesperson for the Department of Education, said that Hennessey was arrested because he “charged into the schoolyard where his son and another youth were having a shoving match.”
“She said that school security agents and other school personnel had already pulled the warring children apart when the father came on the scene and tried to attack the other boy.”
Midnight basketball?
Guess the next thing will be to ban anything white on campuses.
What would happen if the next time some freak came around and said, That offends me! The person doing the offending said, Yeah, Ive been offended before too. I got over it. I think it has to do with human nature. Good day.
You my FRiend are a reasonable-ist! :)
Jeez, who gives a damn what happens on campus anymore?
Psssst, it’s taxpayers money, some of it anyway.
