What will it take to convince the Paulbots?
Vanity ^ | 20 November 2007 | OCCASparky

Let's get it out of the way right now, and call it what you want. Whether I'm stating the obvious, bashing, whatever you want to call it, it has to be said.

Ron Paul is nuts. Certifiable. Clinically insane. Either that or his followers are, or both.

Here's a guy who claims to be a consitutionalist yet seems to be totally unaware of what the Constitution says, based on his promises of what he'll do when (if) elected president. His domestic policies SOUND good, but upon closer review are based on outdated and overly simplistic policies that died around the time the automobile first hit the road. And let's not even get into his foreign policy.

So how to shine the light of day on this guy? How to tell the people who simply want smaller government and less interference in their lives that this guy is going to do just the opposite? That if even a fraction of his ideas were implemented it would throw our national security, economy, and the people into chaos?

The MSM won't do it. The GOP is ignoring him, hoping he'll just fade away on his own. But he's not going to do that. He's getting millions of dollars from people like Stormfront white supremacists, 9/11 "truthers", and liberal activists who want to subvert the GOP primary process. Pretty much everyone, including the MSM and activists on both sides of the aisle, recognizes the fact that ignoring the real conservatives in the race like Thompson, Hunter, Tancredo, etc., guarantees a "moderate" Republican like Guiliani or Romney gets the nomination and these guys are the only people Hillary has a realistic shot of beating next November.

The blogosphere is a start, but it's not enough. People need to start PUBLICLY questioning him on his policies. Get him to paint himself in a corner.

We need Ron Paul to have a "Dean moment", and not a moment too soon.

His inglorious and early demise in the primaries?

Ron Paul is a Jeffersonian constitutionalist. If people interpret the constitution according to Madison and gang Ron Paul might sound crazy.

What Ron Paul advocates is completely impractical, but he's ideologically sound.

Sadly, I think his showing in NH (polled at 8 percent yesterday) might only serve to ENCOURAGE the Paulbots. It's frightening, really...

http://www.wmtw.com/politics/14642094/detail.html

It's amazing to me that RINO's like Romney and Guiliani can poll so well here (okay, not so surprising considering its their backyard), but that Thompson has such a negative rating. Fully half the voters polled (and they polled REGISTERED REPUBLICANS) said they would not vote for Thompson under any circumstances. That's barely better than the 61 percent negative rating of Paul. What the hell are people up here thinking?

Fergus Cullen is the state GOP head, and frankly he's doing a crap job. He's bad-mouthing several of the candidates, didn't push good conservatives while doing virtually nothing to stop the Dem takeover of the state last year. Someone needs to wake up before we're East Vermont or North Mass.

This guy scares me.
The only way the bi-ch can win is if her team can divert funds to a 3rd party and drain votes from whatever Republican candidate we support.
Ron Paul and his merry band of troofer morons are prime targets to be the 08 “useful idiots”.

People don't get Paul. He's not a pacifist. He would have supported attacking the pirates(just as he supported attacking Afghanistan).

Paul supports military action when we are directly attacked. He doesn't support strategic operations, like I said, impractical but consistent.

It is time to stop letting Paul be a part of the Republican Debates since he is a Libertarian. Just because Paul calls himself a Republican does not mean he is. Paul is screwing up the debates and taking away valuable air time that the real Republicans need.

Bingo—Ron Paul is just the 2008 version of Ross Perot and his distracting manner from the real focus is what can enable another eight years of Klintoons.

What do you expect from uber-liberal states? It’s the Southern and Middle states that will decide the Republican candidate, as always.

True, but then you'd have to dump Tancredo, Hunter, and possibly Huckabee.

Like I've said, there have been many attacks/hit pieces on the front-runners, the MSM has ignored the conservatives like Tancredo and Hunter, but in the case of Paul, have not only promoted him, but treated him with kid gloves.

Pray tell, why? That's a question that begs to be answered.

NH isn't (or at least wasn't) "uber-liberal". Most of the NJ/NY/VT influx is what is turning NH liberal. Most of the MA influx is what's actually keeping NH from becoming even MORE liberal.

Look at the state history. Very few Dem governors, and until last year, the Legislature had been a GOP majority for nearly a century. RINO's, maybe, but at least not 'Rat socialists like we have now.

Sorry, Paul supporters. You have to know this is coming.

We know that more big government is coming from both parties!

And we also know that those who will be crying the loudest about RINO's selling us out, are those same ones today attacking Ron Paul because he stands for the Constitution.

Amazing!

You will get the Government you deserve!

If you apply the traditional Republican political philosophy of limited government and low taxes, you would have to throw McCain, Giuliani, Romney, and Huckabee out of the race, based on their public office records, as well as Paul, who mainly deviates on foreign policy matters. Maybe that’s not such a bad idea. A race between Thompson, Hunter, and Tancredo is what I would call a real choice!

Suits me as long as Democrats like Rudy are also excluded.

Explain to me where shrimp and the Galveston bus service fits into the Constitution. Here's a guy who complains about constitutionality yet brings home, on average, more than EIGHT TIMES the amount of pork the average Congressman gets.

Do you really want to go there?

Ron Paul bashers such as youself, always spout out of both sides of their mouth...

On one hand you call Paul a Liberal Surrender Monkey and not a true “Conservative”.

But on the other hand, you seem terrified that he will draw votes away from a “Conservative” candidate (like Rudy?) ...

would not, if RP is a you say such a draw for hippies and dopers, wouldn’t that seem to say the he would draw votes from the “Left” side of the aisle?

Which is it?
