Hard for me to work up any sympathy for this guy.
Mental Picture of this guys brain: Frayed electrical wires, sparks, smoke, goo.
It’s a free country. He served 8 years in the military, he’s entitled to have an opinion about the war. At least he recognized he was being used and got out of it.
Goldi Locks could make a decision quicker than Bruhns.
Hey Bruhns, check the newswires. The surge is working. Peace is coming to Iraq. Vote Republican.
And I’m entitled to say he’s a fool. I’ve seen this anti-war crowd up close and personal.
Not pretty.
It is neither. All the wishing in Bruhns' world won't change that.
“.......I saw the damage done to our country for most of the last seven years with the Republicans in control of the executive, legislative and judicial branches. There was no political balance whatsoever to keep our democracy pure......”
He complains that the anti war idiots are too anti Bush then in the end he complains about those evil Republicans...
True, but his activism endangers the very ones he wants to protect. If he can't see that, he has a very poor grasp on the nature of war today.
At least he recognized he was being used and got out of it.
Small miricles are still appreciated.
The only real way to end the war in Iraq is to win it. Just leaving is choosing to lose.
Follow Bush to the gates of hell? Republican unity? This guy really does have a hard time seeing reality. It's no wonder he was a useful idiot for the left. I wonder whose b*tch he is now.
Often is is politically motivated, they use it as a character assasination and a way to hate on the "evil right."... instead of being genuinely opposed to this kind of war.
Remember when Clinton's war was going on? I don't remember the same amount of anti-war protests from the left then. So, the writer does have a point that the movement from the left is not always sincere.
Isn't it interesting that this only becomes an issue when it is the Republicans in charge?
I’m glad he finally figured out that he was being played like a cheap fiddle. Hopefully he will sit down and examine all of his own talking points.
There are a few honest ones.
As Tonto said to the Lone Ranger when surrounded by thousands of blood thirsty braves, "What do you mean "we" white man?"
I'm always said that the anti-war groups are not anti-war. That they do support war by America's enemies against America. The war is just another opportunity to get their "hate on" against the USA.
It's as simple as going to a "peace march" and counting and noting all the OTHER grievences the participants have against this country and what other groups and countries their signs, banners and flags support.
And thank the media [snicker] for their great coverage of that so that the American public is so well informed and knows of it.
“He complains that the anti war idiots are too anti Bush then in the end he complains about those evil Republicans...”
Thats what I got out of this little piece too. The writer, to me, appears confused. He is complaining that the only real purpose of those he has now detached himself was anti-anyone that disagreed with their agenda by saying:
“I think, is nothing short of the prolonged character assassination of all those who disagree with their message.”
But then makes several statements showing he is no different. He lost me with this statement altogether...
“Republicans in Congress, for the most part, would follow George W. Bush to the gates of hell.”
He has not restored his integrity but has accomplished making it more muddy.
