Mrs. Clinton's 'experience'
The Washington Times ^ | November 21, 2007 | Tony Blankley

Posted on 11/21/2007 5:55:54 AM PST by vietvet67

Having spent much of my adult life in politics, it would be silly at this late date to be shocked by the discovery of insincerity and misleading statements coming from leading candidates for president. But if I have seen too much of the world to be shocked, at least I can still be appalled.

Consider the following Associated Press story from earlier this week: "The economy needs help and fast, Hillary Rodham Clinton declared Monday, claiming the experience for the job and saying the nation can't afford to break in a newcomer... There is one job we can't afford on-the-job training for — our next president. That could be the costliest job training in history," Mrs. Clinton said. "Every day spent learning the ropes is another day of rising costs, mounting deficits and growing anxiety for our families. And they cannot afford to keep waiting."

For months, Mrs. Clinton has hinted that Sen. Barack Obama, less than three years into his first Senate term, lacks the preparation to deal with U.S. foreign policy challenges. In Monday's address, she suggested the nation's budget deficit, income inequality and lack of comprehensive health coverage also required a more experienced steward.

"We need a president who understands the magnitude and complexity of the challenges we face and has the strength and experience to address them from day one," she said.

Good grief. What plausible claim does Miss Hillary have to experience in managing a national economy, balancing a budget or fixing income inequality? Even on health care, according to her husband, the aspiring "First Louse" (he wants to be called First Laddie, but I think the derivation from First Spouse works better) claims that she didn't have much to do with HillaryCare — it was his fault.

She’s never had to balance a household budget since she hasn’t had a household until recently. She steals silverware and furniture when she needs something new and we all know what a fine steward of money her brother is. And she wants to control the nation’s checkbook?

Mrs Clinton has considerable experience as the leader of a criminal enterprise run by her and her husband.

. . . the aspiring "First Louse"

Sounds like an appropriate sobriquet to me.

I must admit I sometimes feel we are living in bizarro world. The leading Democrat? A former first lady who carpet bagged her way into a senator’s job. The leading Republican? A thrice-married, gay marriage, pro-choice social liberal! Truly a weird world, don’t you think?

What experience? Lying? Like she lied when she blamed Bill and Monica’s affair on VRC? Pathetic. Her own friend recommended Monica, not the Republicans.

The only Democratic candidate with any experience running anything except his/her mouth is Bill Richardson.

Most of her “executive” experience derived from sleeping with a President - at least once.

At the end of the day, for too many of her dumbed down myrmidons, it's not about experience. She's a woman . . . . (cue Helen Reddy song) "I am woman, hear me roar, in numbers too big to ignore . . . . . . "

And, as women, experience isn't an issue. They only want a woman to be president because . . . . . . well, . . . . . . . . she's a woman!!!

(Don't try to insert logic into this argument - it has no place, here!)

I agree, and I think we are now seeing the outcome of the last few generations not being taught about morality, character, integrity and just plain old good manners.

We have whole generations that think it's OK to sleep around with whoever/whenever. That if the going gets tough in your marriage - just get a divorce - then when it gets tough in the next one - just get a divorce. Who cares if it traumatizes the children? They'll survive.

It's as if spirituality, prayer and believing in a higher power are despicable traits anymore - most especially in the public schools. People think that hard-hitting news is 24 hour cable news channels, mostly about Britney and missing young women. If they do hear any real news, it's in the form of a short, sweet soundbite that is taken completely out of context and used to suit the agenda of who is "reporting" it.

No one is taught to analyze what they hear anymore, or to question it's source. The media gives people credibility that haven't earned it & downplay others that have actual gravitas - because they don't fit the agenda.

I have a real fear, that as us "old-timers" fade away (those of us that can remember what it used to be like when we were all patriotic and respected people who strived to have a good reputation....those of us who were taught to say Thank You and to pray before meals....etc) - I truly fear that once we are all gone, the people that will be left will be so easy to mow down and mold to any shape that evil, evil people want.

The ideals that made us great have been silenced and that is not good.

If Mrs. Clinton’s “experience” as First Lady qualifies her for the presidency, doesn’t the same hold true for Laura Bush? Jackie Kennedy?? Mamie Eisenhower???

In fact, doesn’t this line of thinking make you wonder why no baseball team has offered a contract to Mrs. Alex Rodriguez or Mrs. Roger Clemens? Was Mrs. Jonas Salk provided with her own research lab and funding? Can Mrs. Pavarotti sing? Can Mrs. Picasso paint??

What, in particular, about Mr. Clinton’s presidency was so wonderful that his wife wants to take credit for it? His strong and resolute response to the myriad terrorist acts committed under his watch? His capture of bin Laden when he was offered up on a silver platter? The hiring of Craig Livingstone? The firing of the good people in the Travel Office so that Clinton cronies could be put in? The subsequent fake charges levied against those Travel Office people to justify their firing? Was it Bill or Hillary who decided to steal everything in the White House that wasn’t nailed down? Who gets the credit for pardoning the Puerto Rican terrorists and Marc Rich? Was Hillary stroking Monica’s hair while Monica was stroking...oh, never mind!

Hillary is experienced?

Lady Alzheimer's can't remember squat.

What is she going to do?

Sit by a table in the White House residence section waiting for answers to suddenly appear?

I have heard rumors that Chelsea was a product of marital rape. There has also been considerable mention that Hillary had more women running in and out of the White House than Bill did.

Even here, a web site specifically for conservatives, it seems many no longer believe in “morality, character, integrity and just plain old good manners.” I agree, and it distresses me so. I wish I didn’t care, but I do.

Previous generations sacrificed a lot to build this wonderful country for us, the best in the world. Our founders created something that is special and rare in a world where oppression is the norm. Yet, I think many are willing to throw all this away for a promise (that will be broken) of safety and security.
