“More than 35.5 million people in the United States went hungry in 2006...”

I missed dinner the other night, so make that 35,500,001 for 2007.

Oh, I also had Chinese food a few months ago, and everyone knows that you only end up hungry a few hours later after Chinese, so I guess that counts, too.

If he’s serious, he’ll duct tape The Big E’s mouth shut for a month.

Imagine how many villages could be fed from that food stuff savings?

Let me guess.....FREE FOOD!!!

Actually, a group of friends an I suggested this once. The basic idea -- combine the farm subsidy and parts of the welfare system into a more integrated idea. Create what would essentially be a government-produced "kibble" that is nutritionally balanced, and would provide necessary sustainment if eaten in the appropriate amounts three times a day.

The catch -- the "kibble" would be freely available to everyone, and would replace existing food stamp, etc., subsidies. If you want better, tastier food, you can buy it, but don't come complaining to the government that you're starving.

“Let me guess.....FREE FOOD!!!!..............”

I prefer that idea to food stamps. The idea was to get healthier food “for the children”. Good have a free food bank with only healthy food. Probably wouldn’t be as easy to trade for drugs and booze as food stamps are.

I don’t know how old you are, but do you remember to “Commodity Program” that existed before the era of Johnson’s “Great Society” and the ubiquitous welfare check?.............

Nope, not that old (37). My folks might remember that, though.

I have a better plan for the “Breck Boy”. Sell that mansion, empty your bank accounts and investments and donate everything you have to the poor and take a non paying job at a soup kitchen.

I, too, volunteer weekly at our church’s food and clothing panty.

You are wrong about “the only people starving in America” being associated with drug abuse.

We interview and issue food vouchers to 20-30 households a day. It is so sad how many of them need help with food because of illness or ongoing disability. Either they are unable to work, or they may work, but the money just doesn’t stretch to cover living expenses and medical bills.

Some are deadbeats, absolutely. But there are also good people in pain out there, as there always have been, and it’s our duty to help our neighbor.

So don’t be so cynical.

That said, John Edwards is an idiot. And he’s not even a laughable idiot, a la Ron Paul.

If the Silk Pony thinks the problem is so dire, he can fund the solution with his own money!

There is no domestic hunger problem and, likewise, there is no domestic homeless problem.

These two issues only “exist” because whenever a Republican is in the Whitehouse, the MSM say they do. Then, when a Democrat gets in the Whitehouse, hunger and homelessness magically disappear.

An epidemic of "Hunger", or an epidemic of obesity-induced Type II Diabetes?

Oh, you can be "hungry" and obese at the same time. It's a matter of not getting the RIGHT foods.

ANOTHER WELFARE PROGRAM. Isn’t the definition of insanity doing the same thing over & over and expecting a different result?
