Psalm 100:4

Be thankful unto Him
and bless His Name.

TOPICS: Culture/Society; Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: pray; presidentbush; troops; victory
Heavenly Father,

We come together to thank You for Jesus Christ. Had You not sent Your Son to die for us, Father, this short journey on earth would be futile, and there would be no hope for eternal life. Please accept our humble and grateful praise for this precious gift that is the most wonderful and powerful gift we could possibly receive.

We thank You also for the joy of being with family members and for the web of love that they spin to support us. We thank You for the gift of health—eyes that see the glory of Your creation, ears that hear the music of praise, hands and feet that can move and work, tongues that can taste food prepared with love. We thank You for work to do, for wages earned, and for bountiful food upon our tables.

We thank You for our nation, founded on freedom and the right to worship. We thank You for brave men and women who have gone before us to plant the seeds of a great nation, and for those who stand in watchful defense of us now. We thank You for a President who loves You and seeks to serve You. We thank You for friendships formed from praying in agreement with people we’ve never met, but who are kindred spirits because they, too, love the Lord. We thank, You for Your faithful answers to our prayers throughout our lives.

Father, on this day, we ask for nothing more than that You accept our grateful praise for every blessing You have heaped upon our heads. Great is Your faithfulness, O Lord, our Father. To You be all the honor, glory, and blessing in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.

It is well with my soul,
it is well, it is well with my soul.

A Thanksgiving Prayer

Thank you Father for the blessings given this day.
Help us to remember, Thou has shown us the way.
And give us strength to help those in need.
Never letting us forget Thy merciful deeds.
Keep us in Thy tender loving care.
Save us, O Lord, when we are in despair!
Give us grace as we walk through life.
Inspire us to seek our brothers amid the strife.
Victory in Thee will be our guiding star.
In courage we march not caring how far.
Now we ask for the most important thing.
Grant us salvation to escape death's sting.

The Other Side Of Thank You

READ: 1 Corinthians 13

[Love] does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil. —1 Corinthians 13:5

A baby gift came to a young couple who were new parents. They were grateful for the present, so the mom picked up a thank-you card, wrote a nice note, and got it ready to send.

Somehow it got buried in an avalanche of paperwork and was never mailed—and the thank-you was forgotten. The gift-givers waited, but no acknowledgment came.

A rift developed as one family thought the thank-you had been given, while the other thought the lack of a thank-you was a snub. This inadvertent failure to send a card left the gift-giver feeling slighted, unappreciated, and neglected.

Among the most important words we can speak are the two words, “Thank you.” And while it is vital to be grateful, there’s another side of thank you. If we bestow a gift on another, we should do so out of a motive that doesn’t expect anything, even a thank-you, in return. True love gives with no expectations.

Love, as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4, “suffers long and is kind” and is never self-seeking. Love keeps no record of wrongs—even if someone forgets to thank us for a kindness. The other side of thank you is a pure heart that reflects God’s perfect love for us.

I want the love that always sweetly bears
Whate’er my Father’s hand may choose to send;
I want the love that patiently endures
The wrongs that come from enemy or friend.  —Anon.

True love has no strings attached.

I pray that SGT. Edmund John Jeffers is home with God and that His family realizes that he epitomizes our faithful warriors.

I also pray that his dreams will come true for this our country, “one Nation under God”.

Christ, from Whom All Blessings Flow
by Charles Wesley

Christ, from whom all blessings flow,
Perfecting the saints below,
Hear us, who thy nature share,
Who thy mystic body are.

Join us, in one spirit join,
Let us still receive of thine;
Still for more on thee we call,
Thou who fillest all in all.

Move and actuate and guide,
Diverse gifts to each divide;
Placed according to thy will,
Let us all our work fulfill;

Sweetly may we all agree,
Touched with loving sympathy,
Kindly for each other care;
Every member feel its share.

Never from thy service move,
Needful to each other prove;
Use the grace on each bestowed,
Tempered by the art of God.

Many are we now, and one,
We who Jesus have put on;
There is neither bond nor free,
Male nor female, Lord, in thee.

Love, like death, hath all destroyed,
Rendered all distinctions void;
Names and sects and parties fall;
Thou, O Christ, art all in all!
