"For all of you geniuses with your heads in the sand..."

Thought you could catch a bunch of dumb football fans off guard on Thanksgiving, right?

Thank you for calling us all "geniuses". We appreciate the compliment. We already knew that, of course.

You believe that "Global Warming" is caused by CO2-producing humans?

Do you, like Al Gore, reject the fact that the Sun, and the Earth's rotation around it, are the major causes of "Global Warming"?You actually deny the tenets of Copernicus & Galileo?

Because if you do, you are a "Flat-Earther"--- like Al Gore.

Actually...if we shut down all of the indoor stadiums (with their heat) and did only day-games with no lights....we’d probably notice a significant decrease on utilities cost and the teams might actually make some money.

Deny the tenets of Copernicus and Galileo? That is funny stuff. I am like Al Gore? No, but that doesn’t mean that I will deny all logic because he stumbled onto this issue before my party. Are Crist, Swarchenegger, and Pataki, flatearthers? Look, we know far less about global warming than what we don’t know. Changes and cycles in solar radiation are potentially part of the puzzle. But you would have to be denser than a black hole to look at the available data and conclude that a warmer Mars answers all the questions. Mars has longer years and greater seasonal variability. In the last few years Mars is actually cooling. Mars has a thin atmosphere and no oceans so it is easily effected by external forces. More importantly, none of this changes the fact that no scientist who didn’t get his degree from the back of box of Captain Crunch agrees that carbon “traps” heat at the top of the trophosphere, carbon levels are dramatically increasing (270 ppm to 385 ppm since 1750), and human beings are causing the increase. Are there other factors, either independent or contributing? Sure, but to isolate one such factor and myopically point to it—and then do “high-fives” on the internet with your fellow sophomoric skeptics is indeed quite sad.

Hi melstew,

Why won’t you answer sgtyork or me?

You ignore clear, geological and historical evidence of planetary warming and cooling cycles. Then you violate every rule of intellectual honesty and then have the nerve to insult those who won’t agree with you.

And I wouldn’t call Crist, Swarchenegger, and Pataki flatearthers. I’d say that they are pandering to the uninformed. Most politicians do that.

How many FReepers have you found that agree with you? I’m guessing there haven’t been very many. People on FR tend to operate more on facts then on emotional appeal. In other words, they tend to “think” rather than “feel” about important issues. Try DU or KOS. I bet you would find a lot more global warming alarmists. The people there also like to call you “stupid” if you disagree with them.

The fact is God is in control. You cannot control the weather.

Hi GB,

Of course there have been warming and cooling cycles. That proves that they can occur non-anthropogenically. Does that, in your mind, prove they can’t alternatively be caused by man? What kind of argument is that? As to my “insults,” did you not notice that I was responding to posts mocking the Lions for doing something socially responsible? I get it; it’s OK for you to ridicule, but not be ridiculed. You dismiss republican leaders as panderers—that is very convenient for you. And don’t tell me to join the DUmmies. I’ve been on this board for years before you even knew it existed. You talk about thinking rather than feeling—than you say your argument is correct because God made it so. There is no doubt God is in control—but pardon me for looking to science rather than your personal manifesto to determine the realities of his creation.

“Does that, in your mind, prove they can’t alternatively be caused by man? What kind of argument is that?”

- And yet there is no credible evidence that it is caused by man.

“I was responding to posts mocking the Lions for doing something socially responsible? I get it; it’s OK for you to ridicule, but not be ridiculed.”

- Search the thread. Show me where I mocked the Lions for anything other then the fact that their playing sucks. Don’t try to put anything on me concerning what other FReepers post.

“You dismiss republican leaders as panderers—that is very convenient for you.”

- How does it go? If it walks like a duck... I’ve also called Murtha a traitor. I like to think of it as scientific observation.

“And don’t tell me to join the DUmmies. I’ve been on this board for years before you even knew it existed.”

- Easy there. I could have stated it better; but if you’re honest you will admit there are a lot more DU and KOS members who believe in what had been previously called Global Warming and is now called Climate change.

“You talk about thinking rather than feeling—than you say your argument is correct because God made it so.”

- The funny thing is back about 10 years ago I had some liberal leanings I might have agreed with your point of view. When I was saved I started looking at the world and the people behind certain arguments much clearer.

Here’s a post on another thread that makes a point clearer than I can (#29).

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1929540/posts?page=29#29 And thank you for keeping your manners. There's too little of that here!

My guess is we are a lot alike. I eat meat, buy fur, own guns, FReep leftists, drive an SUV, agree we should drill A.N.W.R. and the Gulf, and vote. I think the big difference is, while I realize I’m not funny, you think you are.

Panic and hysteria are pejorative terms you use, because I believe humans are probably impacting the climate. I am not close to being either. If you find the need to characterize people with differing viewpoints that way, with no basis in reality for doing so, you should probably take a closer look at the validity of your own point of view.

“That proves that they can occur non-anthropogenically. ....What kind of arguement is that?”

Very simply, proving that these cycles occur non-anthropogenically puts the burden on the global warming alarmists to prove that the non-anthropogenic cycles have ceased and we now have ONLY anthropogenic cycles. Since these cycles are decades and eons long, that will be a really tough proof. It is what the scientific method requires. Did you study that in school?

BTW, I didn’t mention the clear evidence that carbon dioxide increases follow warming parts of the earths cycles not preceding them. When I studied science, causes preceded effects not the other way around.

http://environment.newscientist.com/channel/earth/climate-change/dn11659

Here’s a question for you. Is water vapor a greenhouse gas? How do we control it?

Once again, 12 thousand years ago my home was under a mile of ice. What happened, Mr Science? Please prove to me that it is not still happening.

I provided nearly 10 times the scientific citations that you have - frankly none, just emotional verbiage.

Robert Redford Bashes Al Gore as Greedy Opportunist
NewsBusters ^ | 11/22/07 | Noel Sheppard

As irrefutable evidence mounts that Nobel Laureate Al Gore’s climate alarmism is about nothing other than lining his supposedly green pockets with green currency, manmade global warming skeptics around the world wonder when the former vice president’s house of cards will collapse.

Without question, if Gore were to lose the support of almost universally adoring Hollywoodans, the scam would implode quicker than a Democrat demanding a recount after losing a close election.

As such, the following comments by actor and environmentalist Robert Redford, reported by the New Statesman last week, should bring hope to folks not buying the snake oil Gore is selling (emphasis added, h/t NB reader Lee):
