Mrs. Laura Bush talks about the Teach for America program Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, in Washington, D.C.

And since it's now officially the Christmas Season, here is a photo from last December:

ALL CLEAR!

I love doing my genealogy research. I have found out that one of my ancestors was Chaucer. Now, I know why I enjoyed reading his stuff in high school. Now, that my hand is getting better, I am going to start back. It still hurts when I use it a lot but that is to be expected. Another ancestor is the Empress of Russia. My late husband use to tell me if if went back far enough I would be related to anyone way back then.

So far, I have ancestors from Russia, France, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Indian. That Indian ancestor is giving me lots more trouble than any of the others. My cousin's wife has spent about 20 years trying to find out which tribe she was from but no luck. She was raised by a white family in MS. It is amazing the kind of information on the internet. I never would have been able to find all of this info without it.

Jacobites - I meant Jacobites, rather than Jacobean.

Good evening. How are you? I had a real quiet Thanksgiving. Just myself. Everyone else was busy. For some reason, this year has been especially hard for me. I find myself crying for no apparent reason and I do not mean crocodile tears. I see or hear something that reminds me of everyone I have lost, and I start bawling.

You should see the baby booties I have crocheted in the early morning hours when I can not sleep. These are going to be for my niece's daughter but then I have to make some more for my granddaughter. She came by last night and loved them. It is a very old pattern that I have been making for about 35 years. I have a pattern but I usually do not look at it. Maybe I can take a photo and let y'all see them, the blue dress, and the blankie I have crocheted.

I agree - Indian lineage is difficult to trace. We have an Indian woman in ours, and no one can find the details. I think perhaps her name was changed, and she was anglicized.

She was Cherokee and most folks that I bump into doing research have a story about her existance.

I was hoping Cherokee Nation might help, but haven’t had time to explore.

SO HAPPY YOU’RE feeling better. Don’t be a stranger!

Thanks for the up-date. I guess they NEED a day without photographers following them everywhere. Leaves us out in the cold, though. LOL!

Thanks for being here, Jonny!

Mine was born about 1854 and we think she was born in MS since that is where she grew up. We have a photo of her with most of her kids. On a census, one of her kids and his family were listed as mulatto which meant Indian mix. My cousin’s wife has been all over the country going to Indian offices to see if she could find info on her but she has not been able to. Some of her children were offered land in OK but no one took the offer. You would think that there would be some kind of information on her.

Mama..mulatto means: Mulattos, people mixed with European and African. You might be looking in the wrong place.

This just caught my eye as I was going back through the thread.

I was born a Hatfield!

Hi jonny .. thanks for the post-Thanksgiving Dose. Didja have a relaxing, wonderful, food-filled day yesterday? Hope you enjoyed it, whatever you did...;)

Happy "day after," folks ..I could barely move today, I ate so much of so many good things. We played Pictionary after dinner .. it was a blast.

I'll bet there are some serious wedding plans being discussed at Camp David this weekend. Wonder where and when it will be.

I'll NEVER forget those trips he made to show the troops how important they are to him and his relentless honor and respect for them. God bless and protect Pres. Bush and our awesome troops.
