Robert Redford Bashes Al Gore as Greedy Opportunist

As irrefutable evidence mounts that Nobel Laureate Al Gore's climate alarmism is about nothing other than lining his supposedly green pockets with green currency, manmade global warming skeptics around the world wonder when the former vice president's house of cards will collapse.
Without question, if Gore were to lose the support of almost universally adoring Hollywoodans, the scam would implode quicker than a Democrat demanding a recount after losing a close election.
As such, the following comments by actor and environmentalist Robert Redford, reported by the New Statesman last week, should bring hope to folks not buying the snake oil Gore is selling (emphasis added, h/t NB reader Lee):
Redford was an early convert to the environmental movement, and talks proudly of having campaigned on it since 1969. "It was not a happy easy time, because those were the days that the oil and gas companies pretty much controlled the show on propaganda. Anyone speaking about solar energy would be smashed down as being a radical, a tree-hugger and granola-cruncher or what have you."
He is notably cynical, however, about Al Gore's recent award of a Nobel Peace Prize. "He's making a lot of money, he's having a belle époque, a heroic moment," he says.

In fact, according to the source-book for that time frame, namely Paul Ehrlich's writings, we should about all be long dead by now.

An arriviste is defined as "a person who has suddenly risen to a higher economic status but has not gained social acceptance of others in that class." A more modern term for such a person is nouveau riche. This is NOT a compliment.
Of course that describes virtually _everyone_ in the entertainment industry.
And....that was not a compliment.

“Plus, the guy is almost 70 - - time to give up the blond hair!”
This is a good picture of him, but your right he needs to stop lightening his hair. He’s also not served well by his skin which is of the Irish variety that tends to crepe and wrinkle with sun exposure and age.

Come on. Celebrities haven’t gained social acceptance?
They’re damn near worshipped in our society.

belle époque is French for beautiful era, and refers to a golden period in European history from roughly the beginning of the 19th century until World War INot exactly. It refers to the period from roughly the end of the Franco-Prussian War to WWI. Early 1870s to 1914.
The early and mid 1800s had a remarkable number of major wars and revolutions.

"3 days of the condor' is one of my all time favs.
That said, redford is the typical hollywood liberal/socialist hypocrite preaching big govt socialism is the answer after he made millions via free market capitalism.

This article was so poorly written, it was difficult to discern what point the author-—or Redford-—was trying to make.

The oil and gas companies have never feared alternative energy sources and never put out any propaganda that I recall. The government even instituted a large tax credit/refund if you installed a solar system. That is hardly an indication of stiff resistance. The environmental movement jumped the shark all on its own by about 1980. It was a wacko magnet and the Sierra Club led the way with the help of rich Hollywood icon real estate developers like Redford.
I'll make one caveat to that. BP oil company does make propaganda now. It's all Global Warming baloney.

“...time to give up the blond hair!” FYI, Redford is a natural redhead. People with red hair seem to keep the color longer as they age, never go bald and it almost always turns white, not gray.
