Live Thread: Australian Federal Election Count
24th November 2007

Posted on 11/23/2007 10:55:46 PM PST by naturalman1975

In about minutes, polling booths across the eastern side of Australia will close, and counting will begin in the 2007 Australian election. I - and anybody else - who wants to become involved - will be posting in this thread updates based on Australian TV concerning the count.

A belated Happy Birthday to you. I see your sign up date as 10/14/07. You are three. The same age as my Aussie grandson. May your years here, at Jim's Place, bear fruit. Jim's Place, this FreeRepublic, is a wonder to behold. Tonight and this AM is witness of such, as each past day have proved, and the future of this FreeRepublic looks bright.

For our FRiends, the Aussies, and all here doing the reporting....I say, "Job, Well Done!"

To Jim (SIR to me) I say, "Job, Better Done!"

This is typed not to slight, in any way, our FRiends the Aussies, for I too love the country of Australia, and Australia's People. Australia's People are some of the best people, in the world, if not the best! I have family there. Thank God, for the Aussies, our family, and our FRiends.

All here Serve, at the discretion of the owner, Jim (SIR to me). May Jim (SIR to me) consider my posts worthy of His site. The opinions, typed here, belong to the one who typed that opinion. This is part of the unique History of this site. I know I will be corrected, if I am wrong. This site has meant so much to those seeking like minded people, in a world of spinning, and spinning, and spinning.

Again, a belated Happy Birthday to you. May all who pursue the elusive fruit of Freedom, always savor the taste of that fruit, once attained and even when that fruit is not attained. May God bless you and yours, and may God bless our Nations and Allies with the pursuit and attainment of the fruit, Freedom. Nothing I know of, in this world, tastes better!

It’s a sad day. As a Brit I have always believed Howard wa s a modern great, a political giant.

To see him lose not only the election, but his own seat is very upsetting.

He didn’t deserve to go down as badly as he has done today.

Cut to the chase - - has Australia just elected itself down the socialist toilet of appeasement and mediocrity?

Thanks for the thread!

Having read about Rudd's commitment to the Kyoto agreement I’d have to say Australia has elected a rather dim bulb. God bless and protect our dear friend Australia.

I am devastated that Howard lost. He was our most staunch supporter.

Sky News reported he’d lost his seat too, the first PM in 78 years to do so.

That's a stunning blow, even worse than then-Speaker of the House Tom Foley being booted out of office in 1994.
