Mary M is a Fred supporter (I guess I didn’t know that prior to hearing her today). The only way to stay united is to get behind a solid conservative, and Fred is that (as per Mary).

Tim asks Carville to assess “objectively” the status of the republican party. What a wasted question and an idiotic answer from Carville.

LOL; Carville’s assessment concluded by saying that Ron Pual is going to be the deciding factor. Agrees he won’t win, but he will impact the race.

Schrum says all the republicans have problems.

How stupid is it of fat dim to ask the dems these questions.

Fox is in the tank or Guilianni (sic) ...Another person in the tank for the Rudy is Lucianne Goldberg.

Lucianne has always been one to pick a winner. Whoever gives the Republican Party a better chance to win, regardless of principle, will be the one Ms. Goldberg supports. She is, simply put, a partisan.

As for Fox, just like the other MSM markets, it's based in New York City. That alone explains their fervent Giuliani support.

He has also come out in favor of personal savings accounts for Social(ist) Security.

Well so was/is GWB and little good that did him among Republicans or Democrats cannot see it being any different for Thompson.

Rush has refused to endorse a primary candidate, but I'll bet he endorses Fred without doing so blatantly...if you know what I mean. He won't be able to stifle himself if the nanny big-gubmint Huckster moves to the top.

I personally believe Romney is the best problem solver and a conservative at heart who unfortunately had to work amongst a pack of liberals. Almost ditto for Rudy.

I watch the Fox News Channels’ roundtable with Brit Hume every evening when I get home from work. Everytime I hear Charles Krautheimer and Fred Barnes talk about Fred Thompson, it is always in the negative. They haven’t liked him since he first announced that he was considering a run. It is obvious to me that they are Rudy schills, just as is Brit Hume. This is why Chris Wallace picked their soundbites. Fred gave it to him real good. Also liked his answers on Roe v Wade.

K-Lo just posted at NRO’s The Corner about the Thompson FNS segment: “Had Chris Wallace only been as hard on Bill Clinton...!”

My key problem with Sen. Thompson has been trust. Perhaps it’s a phobia of mine, but I hate the mainstream media, particularly television, with a passion. When Fred Thompson worked for NBC for 5 years, and the buzz for his candidacy started while he was still working there and collecting a paycheck for his work on Law and Order, that raised a lot of red flags for me.

He is, however, starting to win me over and I would have far fewer qualms of voting for him than I would for Giuliani or Romney.

Side note: Did someone on FTN just say that the success in Iraq is due to “ethnic cleansing?”

Did you catch Bob Schrum (sp?) comments about the African-American vote on immigration? Mary Matlin made the comment that 75% of African Amercan’s are concerned about immigration.

Schrum’s comments were...Do you seriously think African Americans are going to vote for a Republican based on immigration issues? Talk about taking a voting block for granted. Not smart, IMO.

“Has Rush said whether he intends to eventually endorse a candidate? It sure would be powerful, but I doubt Rush would take a chance like that.”

Rush has said he will not talk about his choice when it comes to the Super Tuesday Primary. He said he will stay out of endorsing during the primary race, but that he will support whomever the Republican nominee happens to be. I believe Rush will remember that Fred Thompson is the first candidate who came out with a statement about the “phony soldier” mess defending Rush. Perhaps Rush will mention something about Fred’s detailed plans on illegal immigration and social security. They are top notch! :)

HTN playing down the successes in Iraq; no surprises there.

One of the panelists speaks up and actually says we are winning in Iraq and AQ is losing, and as a result we are safer. Then quicly ads a bunch of buts to his remarks.

No question, all New Yorkers love Rudy...even Hannity....they apparently believe he’s conservative enough where it counts.

A brokered convention is not such a bad idea, and not that terribly unlikely.

I disagree on “too late”. Look a what’s happening today: as I write this, Russert’s roundtable has been talking about Fred for ten minutes (Matilin is doing great).

Third place in Iowa and a SC victory will wake everyone up.

The MSM like side issues they think it gives them more viewers and that on the whole the public are not that interested or understand the meatier issues maybe they are right maybe not.

It is frustrating for us who enjoy the deeper political issues but unfortunately it is a situation I do not see changing soon.

I think they are pushing Huckabee because they believe it will hurt Fred. It does seem to me that since Huckabee’s numbers started going up, Fred’s numbers started going down. I don’t think they believe that Huckabee will overtake Giuliani, but I think that the Rudy pundits believe it will hurt Fred and help Rudy, in my opinion.
