Today, most vehicles have toaster-sized nickel-metal hydride batteries under the hood.

Wouldn't this statement be true only for electric and/or hybrid vehicles? Most vehicles have toaster-sized lead-acid batteries under the hood.

I think I read that new cars are using something other than old fasioned lead acid batteries.
