Martino - won’t he ever go away? He was a leftie blight when he was in NY, hanging out at the UN, and he hasn’t changed one bit.

“Vatican official backs right of return”

What business is it of his?

What about the Reconquista in Spain? The Vatican (or at least some of them) have gone off the way.

I assume that this geopolitically ignorant Catholic official also supports the "right of return" of Catholics to become Protestants, or go back to assorted forms of paganism? Or, does this Catholic fool not notice that Jews were forced out of all the Arab nations with no compensation and no right of return?

Israel should not ever grant any "right of return." Such a decision would be national suicide. This man's opinion should be ignored until he acknowledges that former Catholics should be allowed to participate in electing the next Pope. That would be fair, right?

The Palestinians are the only refugees in history not to absorbed and resettled in the lands in which they now live. The "right of return" is bogus.

Has this to do with the Arab countries telling those Palestinians living there just after Israel became a nation in 1948 to leave so they could declare war and go in and kill all the Jews there, then they could come back. The Arabs lost and Israel locked them out .... or is this different??

When the Romans defeated the Jews in AD70 (around) they named the Palestinians after the Jews worst enemy, the Philistines ... and Israel was renamed Palestine. So basically the Palestinians have no claim to a country inhabited by Hebrews for 4,000 years or so ....plus not all the Jews were driven from Israel - just mostly those who lived in Jerusalem - there always were Jews living there.

Too stupid for words.

What has happened in the old Palestine mandate is partition and a partial exchange of populations. I say partial because while Israel allowed Arabs to stay if they wanted, all Jews were expelled from the West Bank and Gaza, and almost entirely cleared out of the Middle East.

This is no different from what happened around the same time in India and Eastern Europe. Muslims went to Pakistan (mostly) and Hindus to India (almost entirely). Germans left Eastern Europe and went to Germany. In each case the refugees were given citizenship rights and absorbed into the population.

What is different here is that the surrounding Arab states refused to give their refugees citizenship rights, which makes them essentially stateless, and kept them cooped up in refugee camps, aided and abetted by the UN.

IMHO what the Arabs have done is a gross violation of the Pali's human rights, done deliberately to try to destabilize the region and block the chances of peace with Israel. If the Cardinal cared a fig for human rights and world peace, this is the crime he would denounce.

Does the Vatican realize Jordan, not Israel, is the destination for this so-called ‘Right of Return’ to the Arab World?

“Vatican official backs right of return”

OK, lets see his position on compensation for all the Jews deported during the same period from every Muslim and Arab country in the Middle East. Maybe he’ll offer the Vatican’s own bank accounts to pay the descendants of those Jews for all the property they lost when they were forced out of countries they had lived in for centuries.

The not so funny thing is that all those Jews who were rounded up and deported from all over the Middle East were all resettled and assimilated in Israel, while “Palestinians” were perpetually housed as state-less refugees, where ever they took refuge, and intentionally NOT assimilated as members and citizens of the Arab nations they went to.

However, at the news conference, Monsignor Novatus Rugambwa, Martino's undersecretary, cited the Perugia slaying as an example of some of the dangers that can come with students living abroad.

"Many undergo a sort of culture shock and instability living in new countries, communities and academic worlds," he said, noting that new languages, religions, cultures as well as economic problems and severed links with family can contribute to the culture shock.

What in the world is this guy saying. That the british girl was murdered because she didn't want to engage in orgy sex, violent orgy sex at that, because she lacked a cultural understanding, ie. was in culture shock. Or is this guy talking about the actual killers.

Absolutely insulting and disgusting.

As far as "the right to return" for Palestinian refugees goes, only those that were actually "displaced" during the short wars fought between the two would have any justifiable claim to "return", not the children that have been born since. Or the grandchildren. Or the great-grandchildren.

Right of return to where? Yasser Arafat was born in Cairo, and the head of Hamas was born in Syria.

Islamists believe in the “right of return” everywhere and, in the case of the Vatican, quislings like this Cardinal would be among the first to lose their heads in that case.

Hey dipstick Martino. Your migrants were killers who attempted to anihilate the Israelis. They failed to do that and have zero right to return.

the Palestinians do have their own country, it's called Jordan, and that's where they should move or anywhere else here on the map that is colored green. Notice that little speck of red, the Holy Land is much to small and is getting smaller.
