Barack Obama Chides Bill Clinton For Seeming Flip-Flop on Iraq

Wednesday, November 28, 2007

MUSCATINE, Iowa — Barack Obama on Wednesday laughed off comments by former President Bill Clinton, who a day earlier said that he "opposed (war in) Iraq from the beginning."

"If he did, you know, I don't think most of us have heard about it. But I'll let you check with him as to where he made these, made these statements," the Democratic presidential candidate said in a conference call with reporters.

Asked if Obama thought Clinton's position had any bearing on his wife, Hillary Clinton's position on the Iraq war, Obama responded that all he can say is he actually did oppose the war from the start.

"I spoke out against it before the vote to authorize, spoke out against it after the vote to authorize. Senator Clinton made a different decision. My understanding is Senator Clinton and President Clinton were talking frequently so you'll have to, you know, talk to them about whether ... they discussed this issue at all," he said.

Clinton was in Iowa on the campaign trail for his wife when he offered the seeming inconsistency on an issue that has dogged his wife throughout the primary campaign trail.

On Iraq, he told the crowd that wealthy people like he and his wife should pay more taxes in times of war. "Even though I approved of Afghanistan and opposed Iraq from the beginning, I still resent that I was not asked or given the opportunity to support those soldiers," Clinton said, according to The Washington Post.

All he has to say is “Ah didn’t say that”, and the media will gladly ignore it.

Poor Bubba. He must not realize that times have changed and everything is on YouTube now (probably including his Ron Brown funeral —turn a smile (or bellylaugh) upside down stunt).

Personally I think everytime he or Hillary shows up in public up he should be asked if Pres. Bush should remove Clinton’s troops from Bosnia and if he will demand a timetable.

Huh? WTF is the guy talking about? The guy is a pathological liar living in some kind of fantasy world.

It is great political theater. The question to be answered is, Does the participation of Bill Clinton in the campaign help Hillary more than hurt her? That will be answered, I guess if she gets the nomination. In the meantime we get what will be hopefully a last look at the two most skilled liars ever to perform on the American political stage.

probably at a recent “Clinton Team” meeting when the discussion focused on the fact that Hillary running as Hillary is slipping in the polls and rapidly becoming unelectable.

Rush said that in the old days, the Drive-Bys would just marvel at how Bubba captivated the crowd. Also, from Fournier's article:

...He told the crowd where he bought coffee that morning and where he ate breakfast.

He detailed his Thanksgiving Day guest list, and menu.

He defended his record as president, rewriting history along the way.

And he explained why his endorsement of a certain senator from New York should matter to people.

"I know what it takes to be president," he said, "and because of the life I've led since I've left office."

I, me and my. Oh, my. (cont.)

Obama has some smart people feeding him info and lines, too bad they can't get on stage and debate for him.

Empty suit at best.

Or just wussing out on the reporter's part. There was nothing seeming about it.

LOL! Won't help :) For instance, Rush Limbaugh's millions of listeners heard all about it today, including the caller who reported that Toon said the same thing at a second speech later that night.

Note to FNC: Like I said, there was nothing seeming about it.
