Yep, keep pushing, don’t stop, that will be the end of you in OUR country.

Don’t cry when you’re kicked out and UNITED with your large families wherever they are!

Maybe that explains all those crazy things happening in Florida. Interesting how many of them helped to elect creepy Crist.

I worked in one of the hospitals down there in PBC. Every single day, there were non-English-speaking aliens sitting in our hospital rooms, waiting for someone to come and translate what was going on. Once communication took place in their language, social services would show up with cards upon cards for free meals, free cab rides, free bus tickets, free long distance, free new and lightly used clothing from the social worker’s “closet,” free local “assistance” with rent payments or “assistance” establishing an address, and on and on and on. Not to mention, the FREE medical they were provided. It was always lovely to watch all of the “uncles” and “aunts” and “brothers” etc. who would also show up in the room quiet and despondent, also receiving vouchers, yet in the elevator or in front of the hospital waiting for their taxi they were all gabbing away in their language with smiles and hugs. Oh, how their lives improved tenfold!

That this invasion happened on George Bush’s watch, with absolutely nothing being done except a push for amnesty, will be the lasting lousy legacy of his presidency. It has cost our nation billions, debased our culture, and taken the lives of thousands of U.S. citizens who were victims of crimes perpetrated by illegals. Shameful

You are correct, of course.

But let me ask this:
How many posters on this forum still insist on promoting Mr. Bush's brother for the presidency?

The brother who is married to a Mexican woman, who's legal entry into the United States is unclear?

What kind of immigration policies do you think his election would result in?

Well yes, but you can reverse it -— Get your sheriff to train the deputies to handle illegals. Today they are running driver’s license check points in Lee county, you don’t have valid licenses, off to jail. They run immigration checks from jail. Locally the accident rate has been high, the crime rate spiraling upwards, but they are cutting into the problem. Not all counties are yet tuned in ... I doubt the 30% illegals, more like 50% :-/

Send them to jail? The jails are overcrowded as it is with petty criminals and and drug users. Put them in work camps and let them earn their citizenship by giving back to the country they have taken from.

Hey, now. I think Jeb Bush would make a great President!

Of Mexico.

No way. If you’re here illegally, there should be no earning your citizenship at all. You should be barred for life.

The report DOESN'T say "30% of the people in Florida are illegal aliens" (which is where I guess your "5 Million illegals in Florida" would come from). It was that OF ALL THE IMMIGRANTS in Florida, 30% are illegal (and 70% legal).

Also, note that the Center for Immigration Studies is a solidly anti-illegals group (some would say "anti-immigrant" but I would disagree). But they certainly don't have a track record of minimizing the problems caused by illegals. I've looked at the whole study, and it's a pretty sober nd fair analysis.

So, just yelling that it's 50 or 70 or 90% of all "immigrants" (which includes 90-year old italians who have been citizens for 70 years, etc. -- it means ANYONE born in another country, regardless of status as citizen, LPR, or whatever) that are illegal isn't much of an argument.

Just like any crime, there are differing degrees to an offense. Some illegals are here for legitimate reasons, such as, they cannot obtain documentation due to circumstances that are difficult for them to overcome, such as finances, language skills, or fleeing from an oppressive government. For example, if I were a Mexican with a family to feed, I would probably try to get into America in order to have a better opportunity for my family. I don't see how you would compare someone like that to a career criminal who is just here to reek havoc and disobey our laws.

You must also remember that historically our immigration laws have not always been as strict as they are now, not that they cannot be improved upon; but if an illegal is here to assimilate, they should be given a chance to prove themselves and pay their dues to society before we ship them off. I certainly would not want to continue to overcrowd our prison system to the the degree we are now. You have to remember that every prisoner's incarceration is paid for in full by you and me the taxpayer. For some crimes that kind of economics is an unnecessary expense.

The majority of the people here are here for your so-called “legitimate reasons,” so making an exception would render the rule moot. They could all claim the “language skills” excuse since they are all here speaking Spanish without even an attempt to change.

As I said, I’d make it where anyone here illegally could never become a citizen, so get out before we find you. If things are so bad in your country, change your country. We’re a sovereign nation, not some halfway house for runaways.

Actually, we are a nation founded by the runaways. We are also a country of second chances, so I don't see your point in trying to be a complete isolationist who puts all his faith in our government and its laws for all time. Things can change for the better, they always can. We can't just shut our eyes and ignore our problems. You think sending everybody back would be an easy or even a practical solution. Never has anything in the history of the world been accomplished. The fact is, we can't and don't send every illegal back, even if we wanted to, because we have to incarcerate our law breakers. If an illegal kills someone he goes away in our prison system. Then we have illegals who contribute to our society in positive ways and never present a legal problem otherwise. Do you want to lump them all together?
