Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air have announced a new program that will charge heterosexuals 10 percent extra for their air travel to specific locations during the Christmas season.
The company actually offers the 10 percent as a discount but only if the purchaser obtains the ticket through a "gay" page of the company's website, a location not typically patronized by families seeking travel arrangements, according to an Idaho activist who was distressed by the offering.
Bryan Fischer, of the Idaho Values Alliance, told WND the company boasts of its "nondiscrimination" policies, but, "here they are blatantly discriminating against heterosexuals in their pricing structure."
"It just doesn't seem like it's smart business for them to stick their thumb in the eye of the main passengers," he told WND.
He said he had called the company's reservations number and the clerk was unaware of the program and it didn't come up on the general list of discounts available to reservations agents, but he did verify that the "gay" page discount was valid but only by going through the "gay" page.
"The only way you could take advantage of this is to self-identify as a homosexual, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. Otherwise you're out of luck," Fischer told WND.
A spokeswoman for the airline, Amanda Bielawski, returned WND's call requesting a comment, but didn't answer questions, noting that she didn't know about the program. Then she quizzed WND on who had given the news organization information on the program.

I like Alaska Airlines, but this is just stupid.
I guess since they are light in the loafers they use less fuel?
Perhaps they can stack homosexual customers 2 or 3 to a seat.
New York City on Sale

LOL... But doesn’t the limp wrist also affect how many bags they can carry on?

I live in Alaska, I’m 50, straight and called pretty handsome.
Almost everywhere I go there is some minor attempt of a gay interaction at stores etc, most people do not know that there is a shitboatload of gays up here male or female, but these are really quiet silent ones, worst I get is some smug remark from a gay man like if he is serving food at a deli counter or at a coffee shop which is really where they hang out and i refuse to talk to them as comrades.
They should have a “None Of Your Damn Business” button, that lets you use this discount without identifying one way or the other. Stupid.
Give them a break. They’re trying to penetrate a market.
Or “Men who marry their horses; 15% off during Kentucky Derby season”.
Sick stuff to give discounts to men who sodomize other men.
Wouldn’t this be considered discrimination based on sexual orientation?
Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if they get a 10% discount for leaving Alaska, but must pay 100% more for returning.
Fairy lift.
Just order thru the gay page. No big deal.
Illegal only if it refuses the discount to normal people who go through their gay web page.
So all normal people should go to the gay web page and buy tickets.
Yep...just trying to penetrate something new, as usual.
If this was the other way around, it would be a HATE CRIME.
Right...whatever the "gay page" is. I doubt they'll probe too far to verify gayness. :)
This is the usual WND writing without facts.
Illegal only if it refuses the discount to normal people who go through their gay web page.
So all normal people should go to the gay web page and buy tickets.
What?
No normal people should avoid the Airlines... Not provide demographic fodder for the homosexual agenda.
Sheesh ..

Let me see—are conservatives going to complain and moan about it as they alwayd do or are they going to sue?
“Step to the pilot’s rear?”
I checked the “gay page” (link is at Comment 5) for a trip from PDX to EWR (Portland to Newark) from 12/26 to 12/30 and the “gay page” returned a minimum cost of $611. Without the “gay page” code it was $644, about 10 percent higher.
But going through Orbitz.com as a thoroughly heterosexual family man for the same trip returns $603 - the lowest price of the three. (All prices without taxes).
So maybe this is part of a scheme to punish people who don’t know how to use the internet to find lower prices?
Someone should go thru the “gay page” and book tickets for their whole family.
Fly United?
Gag ... choke ... puke ...
They do that, and I'll be finding another airline.

Sounds like the Corporations that give “partner benefits” to homosexuals but not the rest of us.
Your research seems to indicate that using Orbitz is “really gay”.
$644 is actually 5.5% higher that $611. </nitpick>
If you care to comment to Alaska Air...about their promotion of the homosexual agenda....

I guess they are “life partnered” to a gay relationship.
What does WND want to happen? Should the nanny state step in and stop this? Would that make WND happy (it'd probably please that socialist Huckabee) How about the guy in my church who gives discounts to me when I buy new tires from him? Is he engaging in religious-based discrimination because he doesn't give the discount to others?
In short, let the market do it's work and stop crying about being a "victim of discrimination" all the time. It makes you sound like a Democrat.
If they go with Judicial Watch again, expect to lose.
They changed the page alright but they forgot to change the page name information in the header portion of the page’s HTML code. So it still identifies itself as Gay travel. They also are stuck with the gay identification within the web page’s URL because that is embedded in their website directory structure.
Good point. Besides, when dealing with airline ticket prices, “fair” is the last thing I’d use to describe them. Practically everybody on every flight is charged a different price for their tickets, unless they were bought at the same time. You and I wouldn’t pay different prices for a can of tuna at the supermarket, but we can have wildly divergent fares to fly on the same airplane.
If you turn a bar stool upside down you can seat four.
“... all normal people should go to the gay web page and buy tickets.”
Not a good idea. Ten years later doing something like that could rear its ugly head if being investigated for a security clearance, etc. Nothing you do online is private.
Were they calling this the "Wide Stance" based fare?
I can see the slogan now:
Fly Alaska Air for a wide stanced toe tappin good time.
