He's already been outed as a "paper general." He retired as a colonel from the National Guard and California made him an Honorary BGEN in the state militia (which does not officially exist). Once people get through disecting his past he's gonna wish he'd stayed in Hillary's servant quarters rather than have been at the debate.

I would like a pic of him in uniform so I can research the ribbons he wears.

State militia does exist:

California State Military Reserve:

his problem is he keeps using is BG rank in the militia to imply it was in the US Army Reserves.

In my experience in the military (AF, 31 years 11 months, and 29 Days), this guy is fraud.. (1) As an enlisted member in Army Military Intelligence, depending on his MOS, he would be required to hold and maintain at least a “Top Secret” security clearance. Being a homosexual, he must of committed perjury during his back-ground investigation.
(2) He retired as a Colonel in the Army Reserve, joined the State Military Forces of California and received “Brevet” promotion to BG(Only recognized in CA), not Federal.

He should have been given Dishorable Dicharge as an enlisted troop and the rest would not have happened..

General Kerr is a graduate of the Intelligence Orientation Course, the Imagery Interpretation Course, the Army Intelligence Advance Course, the Special Forces Officer Course, the Civil Affairs Advance Course, the Inspector General Course, the Command and General Staff College, and the U. S. Army War College.

Some of these schools can be completed on a non-resident basis which, I believe, doesn't require that you be selected by Dept. of the Army. It would be interesting to know if the Special Forces Officer Course was the full resident course which requires airborne qualification or whether it was a classroom course of instruction.

He claims to be President of Episcopal Charities, but that conflicts with the IRS filings or their annual reports that show that position held by others. I wonder how many more of these affiliations are myth.

http://www.sldn.org/templates/about/record.html?section=81&record=1151

(continued)

General Kerr has been active in professional, community, and church affairs in San Francisco where he has served as board member and president of Canon Kip Community House, trustee of the United Way, President of Episcopal Charities, and President of San Francisco Higher Education Association. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary, International. In civilian life, he was employed by the San Francisco Community College District where he was successively faculty member of City College, Chair of the Business Department, Dean of Instruction, and Dean of Instructional Support and Special Assistant to the President. He retired from the College in May 1995 and continued to teach as adjunct faculty. The Rev. Dr. Alvin Gomer, Episcopal priest and licensed psychologist, was his partner of 26 years. Dr. Gomer died in 2000.

General Kerr is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and has a Master’s Degree from San Francisco State University.

Among his decorations, General Kerr holds the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Reserve Medal, the California Medal of Merit, and the California Commendation Medal. He has received the Distinguished Service Award of the Association of the United States Army and is an Honorary Member of the U. S. Army Reserve Civil Affairs Corps Regiment. He wears the Special Forces Tab and the Parachutist Badge.

He makes his home in Santa Rosa, CA and is Chairman of General Rail Corporation.

FocusNexus - ...His promotion was in the CA National Guard...

Please DO NOT confuse the CA State Reserves with any branch of the “National” Guard. One is military, the other is a state agency of volunteers. These state agencies can server an very important job, and are made up largely of veterans that deserve respect. The mistake Kerr makes is using his state rank form a volunteer organization next to the designation of US Army (Ret). Those two do not go together.

I will reply to myself and not point this to anyone in particular. Please do not let your feelings about Kerr impact your feelings of the Nation Guard/Reserves or even State Reserve organizations.

With 34 years of service as a C-130 pilot, my father spent 6 in active duty in Vietnam and as an instructor, then 6 as a full-time “technician” with the Missouri Air National Guard (being activated in the early 80’s to enter one war zone that I do not have all of the details on), and 22 years as a full-time “technician” in the Texas Air National Guard (activated for two tours in Desert Storm and playing a support role in Operation Just Cause). My brother is a navigator and my best friend a pilot in “traditional” roles in the Texas Air National Guard, and both have been activated for what I believe will be their 6th deployments into the Middle East (UAE, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, etc). Despite what Bush bashers claim, the National Guard is NOT a way to avoid deployment, whether full-time or a “weekend warrior”. In fact, my best friend’s father served in Vietnam after being activated from the Texas Air National Guard in the early 70’s...so it didn’t apply then either.

As for State Guard organizations, many states have them and they also serve an important role. They assist in local disasters and relief efforts. Think of them like the civil air patrol. Volunteers that give of their time to serve others. In Texas, their motto is “Texan’s serving Texans” (http://www.txsg.state.tx.us/txsg_web_site_002.htm).

Don’t let Kerr’s misrepresentation of his service tarnish any of these organizations.

Well, no disrespect to whatever groups your family served in at the state level, but I've seen the CA State Guard and it's primarily composed of dorks who collect antique bayonets at gun shows and are led by the aged and infirm:

How about coming down for Major Egeler's California Fried Chicken?:

CA State Guard is nothing but old guys playing soldier. God bless them, but let's be honest: This isn't something you're going to see on CNN. To them, eleventeen-star Briagdier General Kerr is Ike Eisenhower.
