Am working on a write piece for newspaper on last night's stacked deck debate.
Does anyone have any FACTUAL information on military or civilian career of Brigadier General Kerr, last night's Clinton-planted questioner?
Need to know typical DD214 stuff: Time in service, commissioning source, assignments, any combat or combat area time, active duty service other than ACDUTRA, service schools completed (CGSS, War College, etc> decorations received, Branch, (Infantry, Armor, etc.) when he revealed sexual orientation, any outstanding service good or bad, civilian career, etc.
Understand promotion to BG may have been honorary on retirement from Guard, not federally recognized.
Any help appreciated.
Commanding General of the Turd Burgling Division
I’m not positive, but as a mamber of the military, he was loathed by Hillary.
Sucking up won’t help.
But theres more. According to Lt. Col. Bill Campenni (USAF, ret), one of President Bushs squadron mates in the Texas Air National Guard, there is no such thing as the California National Reserve of which Kerr claimed to be a former member.

General Poofter.
Special Operations Unit: The Gay Berets
In 1998 he won hot dog eating contest held at the White House.
notice that the other gay retiree in the NPR roundtable was a “rear admiral”....the joke possibilities abound...
In addition, if he was gay during all of those years of service, then he definitely, during his career, did not truthfully fill in his military applications before the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy. Before that, the military DID ask, and if he lied, he should face those consequences as well IMHO.
Pretty much all anyone really needs to know about the guy I think.
Do a google search - very interesting.
Dude, it's lunch time here....
I’m wondering if Kerr and Hunter have had run ins in the past. They are from the same part of the country and Hunter has a long history on the armed services committee.
Personally I think Hunter was the real target of the attack. The video question went to Hunter and when Kerr started speaking from the audience he went after Hunter again. Fortunately Hunter handled it very well as I would expect him to.
Here’s a resume he that was posted at the Military Equality Alliance website.
http://www.veteransequality.org/learn/about_us/advisory_board/keith_kerr_bio.htm
Seems he left active duty in 1960 and was a Reservist after that, retiring from the Reserves as a Colonel in 1986 and joining the CA Military Reserves (citizen soldiers) where he achieved the rank of Brig. Gen.
Here’s the Reserves website:

touche’! Well done...
If we can win this election in spite of the MSM, it will be a miracle.
Commander of the Special Feces.
He retired as a California Army National Guard colonel, said Campenni. It is common at Guard retirement ceremonies to give an honorary promotion to colonels to the STATE rank of Brigadier General [but] it has no meaning other than a fancy certificate for the wall and use of the title at local Guard functions.
Campenni said the rank of general is not federally recognized and the title can not be used or the rank worn outside the state.
Factually, he is a coward regardless of service. He chose to hide his “status” until he was safely retired and had nothing to lose in standing up for his beliefs. If he truly believed that being gay, in the military or in general, was okay he should have come forward earlier to fight for his position.

Your calguard link didn’t work.
No, seriously, he was the Commander of the Turd Brigade.
According to his resume he was an officer in Intel during the height of the Cold War. As such, he would have been asked about being a homosexual in order to get his top secret security clearance. He obviously lied, and you can bet your bottom dollar the Soviets knew all about him.
He should be court martialed and have his retirement and rank stripped from him immediately.
I’d like to know how many years of actual active duty he did, and when. And if he was ever in combat.
My guess is he was one of those guys who spent 90% of his “43 years in the military” in the reserves, but doesn’t mention tha fact.
Not to knock the reserves, but I can’t stand guys like this phony who imply that they spent 43 years on active duty.
I think the most informative piece in that list is the SLDN bio, which suggests the good "general" was only on active duty as an enlisted man, and that all of his commissioned service (which supposedly makes him 'credible') was in the reserves. In fact, the guy is basically a college professor! He became a general only in the CA National Guard in early 1991 and served as a BG until 1995.
This guy is hardly a hard core regular army airborne ranger combat veteran.

I read on another thread here today that he isn’t even a real General. It’s an honorary rank he was given when he retired. It’s only given by the state and not the military.
Given that he lied, I’m betting dishonorable.
He should be investigate.
I correct myself: He became a 1LT in 1960. His resume does not state the year he left active duty. Sorry for the misstatement.
Correct myself again:
“Upon release from active duty, he continued to serve in the U. S. Army Reserve and was commissioned a First Lieutenant in June 1960.”
http://www.sldn.org/templates/about/record.html?section=81&record=1151
So he was on active duty as an enlisted man and was only an officer in the Reserves.
I hear he was loyal to his “unit” and that he never left his buddy’s “behind”.

Kerr, BG Keith H., CSMR (Ret.)
Brigadier General Keith H. Kerr entered the U. S. Army as a Private at Fort Ord, California, on 21 September 1953. After completing basic and advanced training, he served with the 513th Military Intelligence Group in Germany during the Cold War. Upon release from active duty, he continued to serve in the U. S. Army Reserve and was commissioned a First Lieutenant in June 1960. His principal assignments were with the 228th Military Intelligence Detachment (Division), Company B, 12th Special Forces, the 91st Maneuver Training Command, the 351st Civil Affairs Command, the 419th Military Intelligence Detachment (Strategic), and the 221st Military Police Brigade. He also was on the staff and faculty of the Sixth US Army Intelligence School (6A ITAAS).
General Kerr is a graduate of the Intelligence Orientation Course, the Imagery Interpretation Course, the Army Intelligence Advance Course, the Special Forces Officer Course, the Civil Affairs Advance Course, the Inspector General Course, the Command and General Staff College, and the U. and later, Chief of Staff. He was appointed Commanding General, Northern Area Command, CSMR, with headquarters at Alameda Naval Supply Depot, Alameda, CA and promoted to Brigadier General on 21 February 1991. He held this position until reassigned to State Headquarters on 31 July 1995. General Kerr retired on 1 June 1996 after 43 years of service to the United States and the State of California.

‘’’Sucking up wont help.”...
Um, I think your language use here may need to be modified, given the subject of the thread...
Looks like he was only on active duty for some 7 years and got out of active duty with the rank of a Second Lieutenant — he didn’t even make 1st Lt., until after he got into the reserves.

Damn Right!!!

“He should be court martialed and have his retirement and rank stripped”
I don’t think the UCMJ applies to Reserve Retired officers. It applies of Regular Air Force/Army/Navy/Marine officers but not retired reservists or national guardsmen, IIRC.
golly, can I get all that stuff too. I was drafted in ‘66 got out (alive) in ‘68 only got busted once.(took some pictures in a house of ill repute) sold them to the “crutes”. Not gay.....
This piece of mashed poop is as bad as Kerry..
All I get called now is “CEO” ... Retired.
Apparently being a peter puffer is a requirement for promotion to General or Admiral during the Clinton regime. Notice how many are coming out of the closet? Not a coincidence..... More like a prerequisite.....
I have had a discussion with someone this morning who knows General Kerr through Dr. Alvin Gomer, his live-in partner. Note that they were together for 26 years...well back into his Army career. My source confirms that they lived together for most of that time. I know you can't use that in your piece (source does not want to be quoted) but it is instructive.
This is the presser when he lends his name to Kerry’s campaign in 2004 as a military person for Kerry.
Note how he is listed:
Brigadier General Keith H. Kerr (ret.)
USA, Army Reserves
California
http://www.prweb.com/releases/2004/9/prweb161396.htm
He seems to imply he retired out of the USA Reserves as a Brig. General, since he never mentions that this “rank” is in the California Reserves auxiliary group. Pretty misleading, eh?
Just what we need. Another phoney General. This is like being the general of your paint ball team. This guy is a Lieutenant who LIED to get into the military. The rest is balony. Someone should dig and find someone who he harrassed while on duty and get his pension yanked.
http://www.calguard.ca.gov/oc/casmr/faqs.htm
I do not want to knock this organization, that will surely see their share of bashing over their affiliation with Kerr. I am sure that they perform a valuable service to the reserve and guard components in CA, but they do not appear to be part of or affiliated with the US Military beyond their local state ties.
If I am reading their charter wrong, please let me know.
He’s not a real general, any more than Col. Sanders was a real Colonel.
He was a “California” general, an honorific given to colonels in the cal guard on retirement. This is not a real promotion, and he can’t wear the star on a real uniform outside of Cali.
In fact, he got off of active duty in 1960, and was a weekend warrior until 1986 when he got out for good. He’s a phony.
