The ‘Center for Science in the Public Interest’ is a left wing group of anti-food hacks who call themselves doctors. Their true love is to go after restaurant chains, and fast-food with frivolous lawsuits. Now they are going after condiments. It’s scary that the AMA is now apparently in bed with these people.

Kevin Willis, a bio-chemist with the Canadian Stroke Network, says about 30 Canadians die every day as a result of too much salt.
No, these 30 folks die per day because they are probably waiting to see a doctor to follow up on a pre-existing blood pressure or circulatory condition in your abysmal Government monopolized health system, Kev.

The problem is the chemical “sodium cloride”, not real salt. Real salt is 85% soldium cloride and the reamining 15% is various minerals that the body NEEDS to properly use/dispose of the sodium cloride. The majority of salt today is 99% sodium cloride. The minerals get stripped out and sold.

The labeling requirement is pretty clear ... anybody who cares can pick and choose, letting the market apply the pressure, not the gubermint or an interested NGO like the AMA. That is more than enough nannying, thank you very much. Besides, now that the AMA has taken this stand, I predict that within 3 years there will be a study saying that a higher salt intake turns out to be good for you. Coffee bad, coffee good; eggs bad, eggs OK; no booze, red wine good; aspirin bad, aspirin good ... and then there are prescription drugs as the good, whoops very bad cases.

I don’t know if government should have a role in this or not, probably not. But, I do know that I have put back on the shelves lots of frozen food products because they contian 30% to 40% of anyone’s daily requirement for salt! If I want salt on my food, I’ll put it there. Yes, yes, some salt is needed in the process, but I suspect a lot of it is there to make up for lack of flavor. So there! lol

There’s far too much government regulation already. No thanks.

Plug the following terms into your favorite search engine:
"cspi" + "rwjf"
Then put in:
"rwjf" + "clinton" + "health care task force"

I thought that not all people had problems with salt. This is insane as consumption varies.

Liberal nannies want now want to tell us not only we can eat, they want to tell us how much salt we can add to our food. F*ck them!

The group further recommended strict limits on oxygen, as too many people are alive to continue eating salty foods.

Another group with interests in this issue, with the same acronym (AMA), the American Marguarita Association, immediately released a statement condemning the (other) AMA groups recommendation.

I consume very few processed foods, and no fast foods. A box of salt lasts almost a year. I’m not a health nut - far from it. I smoke cigarettes and drink booze. I don’t eat veggies either - just the occasional can of V-8 (with a dash of salt, pepper and vodka to make it palatable).
Whats next from the Were All Gonna Die! mob? Coffee? It can be addictive, and contains an unnecessary drug - caffeine. When that happens I just might look around for a Montana Militia to join.
