I checked out year+ old shortwave db I have.
Iran has five jamming frequencies listed for *this* time period.
(Other countries include China, Cuba, and NK, plus an unknown)

No doubt they prefer the loud booming noise coming from automobiles to be exploding car bombs.

Hard though it is for me to say this, Iran's insane government just may have a point.
Of course, I suppose that Wagner and Rossini are next (the women aren't wearing tents, talk-and sing!-in the presence of men to whom they are not related, etc), but I'll enjoy this while I can.

Iran has five jamming frequencies listed for *this* time period. Why do you suppose those lovers of freedom in Iraq would jam radio frequencies.

Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi. Shah Reza Pahlavi was his father, deposed by the British in 1941, for refusing to let them build a railroad across Iran to supply the Soviets.

Durning the 1980s, the ayatollahs banned satellite dishes, and at the time, the dishes were the big ones.
I read in the WSJ that Iranians became quite creative about disguising them.

Moderator, please correct the headline. “Rap music” is an oxymoron.

Okay, I’m with ‘em on this one.
I s’pose we could lighten it to ‘ban rap “music” in all public venues.’ If you want to listen to it in the privacy of your own home - with headphones - that should be okay.
