Lets see, who will visit Hugo for a hug in the near future?
Nancy Pelosi, Jimmy Carter, Barabara Striesand, Sean Penn. Now don’t you feel a lot better knowing we have a working diplomatic contingency in the US that will step-in in a moments notice to suck up to brutal dictators around the world. DISPICABLE UN AMERICAN HUMANS!

quit importing from Venezuela

Don’t know about rest of US, but in Texas most of the crap Citgo stations are out of biz due to our refusing to buy from Hugo.

Still there’s a big citgo refinery at Corpus Christi which is possibly the only one woprldwide that can turn asphalt into gasoline.

"How would we interfere?"

Maybe our lefties have Hugo convinced that Karl Rove can make Hugo's voting machines vote against him like the ones in Ohio did to Kerry. LOL!

Venezuela supplies 14% of our oil imports and that represents 80% of their exports. So...

This guy is the exact opposite of what the state department would like. But..That might be a good thing. My State Department is paying over 500 million dollars to a terrorist organisation. WE just gave them a raise. I thought that we were fighting a war against ......TERRORISTS..my money and your money is going to the palestinians. They tell you that they are killers and terrorists.

Good for you guys. We don’t have Citgo out here in California. I believe there are stations in the Ohio region.

I'm guessing but also hoping that you're joking, since that isn't possible. But the Corpus refinery is tooled for Venezuelan crude as are some in the Texas City area.

Some oil from Southern California has many of the same characteristics as oil from Venezeula, and the refineries there have to have units devoted to handling that heavy crude.

Heavy crude isn't bad. You can make less gasoline from it, but none of the barrel is useless. Asphalt is in constant demand.

We don't want to quit buying from Venezuela even though their oil is not exactly what we would prefer. The shipping costs, compared to what it would cost from the Middle East or elsewhere, make it our economic choice and we tool our refineries accordingly.

Still, my original post on this thread stands. Chavez could refuse to sell us oil, and it would make no difference than our decision not to buy Iranian oil.

The same amount of oil goes into the world market, and only the transportation fees increase, which affects the entire world, not the political target.
