Cool Hillary shines in hostage crisis ["Dress Rehearsal" for President Alert!]

BY modern American standards it was a very minor crisis, but a bizarre hostage-taking episode at one of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign offices in New Hampshire on Friday offered the former first lady an unexpected opportunity to display her leadership qualities.

Clinton was far from the scene and never at risk from a mentally unstable man who eventually surrendered to police after holding three campaign workers hostage. Yet her calm demeanour and authoritative response to a potentially ugly drama was yesterday earning her widespread praise.

Clinton followed the incident from her home in Washington, then flew to New Hampshire to meet the workers once they were released. A local man identified as Leeland Eisenberg was taken into custody and the bomb he claimed to have strapped to his chest turned out to be warning flares.

The incident followed a series of bitter exchanges among presidential candidates of both parties over who is the best equipped to lead America at a time of terrorist threats. Clinton has been mocked for suggesting that her experience as first lady qualified her for the presidency. “She has never run anything,” noted Mitt Romney, the former Republican governor of Massachusetts.

Yet several campaign analysts noted yesterday that Clinton did not put a foot wrong as the hostage drama unfolded. “There was a sense that this was a dress rehearsal of how she was going to deal with . . . [a] crisis as president,” noted Robert Thompson, a media specialist at Syracuse University.

Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics, told the Politico.com website that Hillary managed to “look and sound presidential” as she joined police at a New Hampshire press conference.

Minor, yes, Crisis, not even close. A minor news blip is more like it. But the way some are reporting this incident it was The Cuban Missile Crisis, The Iranian Hostage Crisis, and Katrina all rolled into one, with a "regal, calm" Hillary saving Western civilization. No barf bag big enough....

Inspired by Hillary (and doug from upland’s 2007 Christmas carols), I offer:

“She Needs A Little Crisis” sung to the tune of “We Need A Little Christmas”

Haul out the cameras;
Put up the mic before
The whole thing’s over.
Fill up the newscast,
She may be rushing things,
But dreck is what she needs now.

For she needs a little crisis
Right this very minute,
Hostages and SWAT teams,
Carol Simpson, spin it!
Yes, she needs a little crisis
Right this very minute.
Clinton’s lead is a little blurry,
So you see, dear, she’s in a hurry;

Alert all the networks;
Turn on the brightest string of lights
We’ve ever seen.
Thanks to that fruitcake;
It’s time she hogged some airtime
On the evening news.

For she’s grown a little fatter,
Grown a little colder,
Grown a little sadder,
Grown a little older,
And she needs a little ratings
Nothing could be bolder,
Need a little crisis now.

(Original “We Need a Little Christmas” from “Mame” (1966), sung by Angela Lansbury)

And the “SPIN” machine goes into overdrive. Sad to say but the MSN will lap it up.

“Shine”???????

All she did was keep her mouth shut for 6 hours.

I guess that was a great struggle for her....

A good reporter would ask her:

"Tell us the names of your people who were held hostage Senator. Which of them had families and how long have they been working for you?"

Cool Hillary!

“Why should I give a turd about them? These poor folks have no money; no juice; no connections to China! Nothings, just little people! Better dead!

“Screw them! Oh Betty, script me a short speech so thet once I get camera face time, I’ll make these little people feel important!!”

What exactly did she do during this ‘crisis’? Did she negotiate with the hostage taker? NO...she did nothing but talk to the cameras after the police got the drunken idiot out of her campaign office. That hardly qualifies her for dog catcher in my book

When are those idiotic liberals going to learn that the more utterly pathetic crap they write and say as in this article the more people will be utterly disgusted by Hillary Clinton.

That was not a crisis by any imagination, it was a minor incident by a lunatic who wore flares around his chest and end up not hurting an ante. The utterly pathetic liberal media to make this as some type of 9/11 and Hillary Clinton, the most unlikeable and meanest candidate in modern history, as the best leader the world has ever known, is a great proof of their desperation. All this will further prove to the majority of voters that this woman who needs so much support by the pathetic media in order to sell her to the public is indeed the last person that they should elect to be President.

Cool Hillary shines in hostage crisis...coulda fooled me - both she and her husband canceled their scheduled appearances after he incident and she didn't show her face again in public until the perp had been subdued and taken off by the police - President Bush was excoriated by Hillary and her ilk for not returning to DC immediately after the 9/11 attacks when there was a very real threat of further violence and danger to the prez - she hid out until this lone nut was no longer a problem - not much candlepower at all to her shine IMO.....

What bs...I don’t see what she did other then stay by a phone. I bet she was busy with Huma the whole time & got updates through the door. What did she do??? Make a speech afterward... Now had Huma been a hostage I bet she would have reacted much differently! Shaking my head yet again..~Pandy~

Yet her calm demeanour and authoritative response to a potentially ugly drama was yesterday earning her widespread praise.

This is beyond insulting. To label Hillary as having been "Presidential" for waiting out a hostage crisis and then making a speech that was written shortly after the event began (with a stronger alternative if things got messy) is an assault on the most basic level of commonsense.

The irony is that Hillary could possibly have desired a more dire result in the same vein as Bill wished he had been in charge after 9/11.

Imagine the possibilities: play up any angle that suggests that this guy is a republican sympathizer.Funerals, tears, denuciations, "Can't we all get along?" etc. Thank-God it had a non-violent ending.

Maybe I missed it but has there been any news on this guy's particular motive? It is interesting how quiet that angle has been played.

Hillary did what she’s best at. Nothing at all. Even as a corrupt, lying, Marxist politician she’s a dismal failure. Without Bubba she wouldn’t have a campaign.
