MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - A college student accused of shoving a pumpkin pie into the face of a shopping-mall Santa Claus has been charged with misdemeanor assault.
Clint Westwood, 22, said he "lightly smooshed" the pie into the man's face Friday and shouted, "What do you think of that, Santa?"
Westwood, a drama student at the University of Montana, said he videotaped the encounter and plans to include the clip in an upcoming film.
He said that after the pie ruckus on Wednesday, he expected to approach Santa for a signature on a film-release form, but police arrived first.
"It's a good thing he didn't wait around, because I think Santa would have laid him out," said Sgt. Travis Welsh of the Missoula Police Department.
Westwood said he and companions had waited for a girl about 15 years old to finish sitting on Santa's lap before the pie hit his face, "but then we just decided it would be funnier if she was still sitting there."

That just floors me. That it apparently never occurred to the self-absorbed little twit just how many degrees of offensive his act is. Is he blonde, or what?
I mean a punk running away afterwards to ensure he doesn’t get caught can be understood. But this educated idiot thinks Santa is gonna be cool with signing a release. His parents should request a refund from the school and then apologise up for inflicting their loinfruit on an unsuspecting public.
Assault witnessed by numerous minors...that’s felonious assault. If the bozo submits that video for a grade, he should be expelled. The judge should forbid him from posting it on the internet or any other place for that matter.

But sadly, our courts will throw anyone in jail for meting out justice. Only they can do that.
Santa and his whole posse of elves shoulda taken turns stomping the $#!+ outa “pie boy” ... if “pie boy” survived the exercise, there’s no way I’d vote to convict Santa.
Justice would be if the police have seized the video as evidence and he never gets it back once it’s been used against him in court.
Oh, and a good stomping by the Santa who missed the rest of his shift and had to scrub his costume, and the parents and kids who’d been waiting their turn to see him.

I live in the Missoula area and was horrified when I heard about this. The punk is trying to say it was a harmless prank. He got caught by sending a text msg to someone bragging about what he did. The paper is also stating that this kid has been in trouble before for doing similar disruptive acts. Criminal acts in the name of art are just wrong. I think it would be wonderful if he got expelled from the university and Missoula- only in my dreams... sigh....
