SMITHDALE --A Mississippian who lost both legs in Iraq has married his girlfriend in a hospital-room ceremony.

Army Spec. Josh A. Wells, 21, married Brandi M. Clark, 19, in a Nov. 20 ceremony at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

Wells was injured in a Nov. 2 attack on the Stryker Light Armored Vehicle he was driving.

The couple dated throughout Wells' previous deployment to Germany and were engaged in July, with a plan to marry upon his return from an 18-month tour of duty in Iraq.

Thanks for the ping, rawhide!

Welcome to FR, Brandi! Congratulations to the two of you, and thanks for posting the beautiful picture. You are a beautiful young woman and you have a beautiful name...goes well with the new last name too! : )

You’ve got yourself quite a man there, and it turns out that he has quite a woman too. We are so proud, and thankful, for both of you and what you mean to the future of our country. God bless your marriage and your lives with all of the prosperous goodness of health and love that you deserve.

p.s. Each of you please tell your folks that “they done good”. : )

You’re a good woman, Brandi. I wish there were some of you around my area or Brooklyn, NY. I wish you both the best for the rest of your lives.

thank you so much. i’m tearing up with all of the amazing comments. words cannot explain how thankful i am. josh had called me the day after his injury and told me that his biggest worry, after all that had just happened, was that i was going to leave him. so i bought a ring, wrote a speech, and got down on one knee. i stayed at his bedside and did everything that needed to be done. as a nursing student, i know how to take care of him. i plan on transfering to a school in san antonio so that i can be with him. i’m kinda nervous though, this is my first move away from home.

Moving away for the first time can be a bit scary. At least you are not alone, you have your wonderful husband to ease your fears.

Good luck on your future in nursing, but most importantly on your future with your new husband.

BG and Nana, come meet Brandi, and read her very special story!

Brandi, I think most of us would agree it’s not unusual to feel a bit of nervousness. Maybe you can find a church family there to help ease you through the transition, and there will be new friends awaiting at the new school too.

You will find a lot of good folks here at FR who will be praying for you and Josh.

I managed to, still wiping the tears. He sounds like a keeper himself. Great attitude and the ol’ American spunk - nothing’s going to keep him down! Prayers for a long and happy marraige!

...what's wrong with my name??

Nothing at all.

Most folks we have seen or met whose name ends in a terminal 'i' tend to be flighty and superficial.

Apparently you are the exception.

May God Bless you both abundantly, and with a long and happy marriage.
