I have many times, but when I do, people run to the mods and whine. But since you asked....

*Fred was co-sponsor in 2002 of the most egregious global warming legislation ever crafted in this country. No one knows about it because it was hidden in an omnibus spending bill.

*Fred was every bit as involved as McCain and Feingold in getting CFR passed. In fact, he was a cosponsor of the most egregious part - the moratorium on free speech before elections.

*Fred was a member of the execrable Senate Centrist Coalition for nearly his entire stint in office.

*Fred voted in 1995 to allow illegals to retain federal benefits. And he voted to allow chain migration. Fred got Cs from Americans for Better Immigration and equally bad marks from FAIR and AIC.

*Fred worked with Feingold and Kerry to kill the B-2 bomber program in 1995 after the House voted to build more planes.

*Fred stuffed ridiculous sums of money in multiple bills to create “educational” Institutes for Howard Baker, Paul Simon, Robert Stafford (of gay marriage fame), Benjamin Hooks (racist former head of NAACP), and John Glenn.

*Fred supported liberal Howie Baker over Reagan for the 1980 election.

*Fred enthusiastically claimed McCain showed “leadership like no one else I’ve ever seen” as well as co-chaired his 2000 run for the presidency.

*Fred tried to get the GOP to drop the platform, due to the social issues such as abortion.

That’s just a sampling.

Ouch....That list sent shivers down my spine. Mr. Conservative did all that? Yikes.

I don't know much about Senator Thompson, so that's why I asked for the evidence. Well, there might be problems in the details--or not--but there seems to be more than a tiny bit of truth to the first one I tried to confirm...

pissant said>Fred was a member of the execrable Senate Centrist Coalition for nearly his entire stint in office.

The Atlanta Journal and Constitution said on April 25, 1997, Page A7, in article titled, "Moderate senators taking on stalled budget as bipartisan force,":

"The group of senators, known as the Centrist Coalition, is headed by Sens. John Chafee (R-R.I) and John Breaux (D-La.). [...]
...Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) ... attended the coalition's first meeting and [is] considering joining, Chafee said."
And then he's listed as a member while the 107th United States Congress was in session.

A 2001 AP article said:

Among the Republicans aligned with the coalition are Education Committee Chairman Jim Jeffords of Vermont, Commerce Committee Chairman John McCain of Arizona, Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Fred Thompson of Tennessee, Armed Services Committee Chairman John Warner of Virginia and Budget Committee Chairman Pete Domenici of New Mexico.
I must say, that sure is a RINO lineup that Sen. Thompson seems to inhabit.

Anything could LOOK bad, if one doesn’t understand the context. Many things could be said (to expunge the full context) if I had the desire to explain, but I don’t.

A lot of people say bad things about Bush’s good policy choses e.g his medical economic perspective. But the twists and turns on his ideas are ballantly obvious to those whom dig deeper than the surface. Unfortunately a great deal of his opponents and observers...don’t go into much detail.

Pissant, while your not without merit on somethings, many of those listed aren’t worth anyones time.

Well Pissant, you know I am not one to run to the mods, just not my style.

So indeed I will say these are facts, and while some are open to itreprtation they are what they are.

So then I look at who is saying what. Tom McClintock, a friend of Hunters, supports Fred. We have Rush’s statements, as well as others. We have National Right to life. We have a strong statement from the folks at Numbers USA.

So I would be one to think that these folks are privy to the very information you post ad nauseum.

That would lead me to the question of way all these good folks, as Conservatives, hold Fred in such high regard.

None of these strike me as being 30 pieces of silver like comments as we have seen from some trying to make a Conservative out of Mitt.

So as you it is just a sampling, perhaps a good one and one is free to take it a whatever value they assign. But you are indeed right, facts are facts. There are some very strong conservatives with this same information who support Fred, as well as those who don’t.

What to do huh? Anyways, keep up the good fight, pip, pip, cheerio and all that rot.
