Take a look at the composition of the Arkansas state legislature. I don’t know when the last time they had a Republican majority, but it’s been ages.

There is no comparison between Huckabee and Dole, Dole was pre-picked and he wasn’t terribly interesting and never had anything much to say, this is the exact opposit of Huckabee. You are right though, Dole was Dull. The same cannot be said of Huckabee, you can call him anything you want, but somehow, to say he is dull sounds so dishonest. Huckabee is anything but dull.

I thought the Rust Belt referred to Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and the like. Where old factories are left gathering rust.

I don’t think McCain has any chance at all, he gets too emotional and he can’t be trusted. He is lacking something, he is not the person I would want to be running against someone like Hillary. He seems like he would lose his cool, and she would milk that for all it was worth. I would hate to see the Republicans lose an election over such a point.

Once he's the nominee the MSM is going to portray him as a snake-worshiping Arkansas hillbilly intent on imposing his theistic dogma on the country, and they will succeed in convincing people he is.

Reagan was practical allright. He turned the entire globe on its head with his evil empire speech and saying his position on relations with the USSR was “we win, they lose”. I can still hear the RINOS and Dems and MSM screaming about that.

Reagan blasted through the largest tax cut in US history, while the RINOS and dems fought it.

Reagan pushed for a constitutional amendment to allow prayer, yes prayer, in school.

Reagan gave perhaps the most eloquent speech ever on the need to protect the unborn. He wanted a constitutional amendment to outlaw it.

Reagan was the first President to be endorsed by the NRA. Reagan was instrumental in inspiring the “holier than thou” Christian Coalition to get extrememly active on the GOP side.

Reagan wanted to cut whole bureacracies out of the gov’t, including the Dept. of education.

Reagan was ferocious in his support of pro-democrcay and anti-communist forces in our hemisphere, while the RINOS and dems opposed him.

Reagan invoked the name of God with ease and legitimacy on a regular basis.

Regean is the FATHER of modern conservatism, and the inspiration probably for a majority of the people on this forum.

So I don’t buy that argument for one second.

We have a primary in front of us. With some good folks and some mediocre folks running. We need to choose wisely.

Yankees are moving into Virginia, the Carolinas, and now Arkansas ... if the infomercials for lakefront property are to be believed.

Just as Arkansas finally got around to following the southern Republican wave, it looks like they may be going back to being Dumbocrat.

Looks like the same thing that is happening to Colorado will soon be happening to the South.

We'll all be singing the "blues"!

I think he meant the Bible Belt, the Southern States.

No man who raised government spending by 65% and taxes by 47% is a conservative. Why would you even make that argument? That whole limited government and lower taxes thing is now out the window and I didn’t get the memo?

Exactly what, pray tell, is he conserving? Certainly not the money of Arkansas tax payers.

Sorry, I don’t vote for a guy just because he’s a Christian and likes guns. That’s about the extent of the positives I see in Huckabee’s resume.

Huckabee is no wallflower, it seems that people are just throwing out whatever insults they can think of without stopping to think if it even sounds likely. It just sounds completely without any merit alot of the negative comments about Huckabee. If he is not your choice, fine, but at least try to sound believable.

Yep. They will build him up and then utterly destroy him, using the baptist preacher angle as the stick to beat him.

I can guarantee that moment in the debates where he raised his hands as not believing in evolution would come back to haunt him. He’s be constantly asked if he believed evolution should be banned from schools.

Any controversy that popped up on the matter, well, he’d be forced to speak on the matter.

Huckabee is very, very beatable in a general election. Moreso than any of our top candidates.

Arkansas, like Louisiana, has this odd sort of populist conservatism that is pro-life, religious, and pro-gun, but not much else.

I guess that’s why I’m supposed to edit my posts. That was wholly unintelligible.

Rather:

That moment WILL come back to haunt him

AND

He’D be constantly asked if he believed evolution...

I don’t need to define it, I know it when I see it. I think many around here just throw that someone is not conservative as a convient was to discredit someone. To me, this is foolish. We are trying to beat the Democrats, aren’t we?
