You’re right. If I was rich I would probably get some neighborhood kid - a young teen - that wanted to make some money.

Can you Photoshop one of those Sombrero goodies for Huckabee, too?

I like it.

I knew it would only be a matter of time on FR.

Freepers are the coolest.

I am just surprised that it took him this long.

I'm not - he's not in touch with reality - people like him live in a completely different world than you or I.

LOL! Now this story has legs in the Hispanic Press in the US. It is being picked up widely in the Spanish language papers. It will spread like anthrax.

Lessons for the class. You will see words in here like "indocumentados" (undocumented), and "jardineros" (gardeners), and "sin papeles" (without papers), and "inmigrantes ilegales" (illegal immigrants). You can't MAKE this stuff up. Poor Mitt.

You can spin it any which way you like, but it is pretty transparent what all the anti-Mitts are doing. Like usual, they are holding Mitt to a different standard than anyone else. And whether you want to believe it or not, I am pretty sure most of us, including the congressman and senators whom you all worship, have had illegals provide services, knowingly or unknowingly. (Tom Tancredo even had a similar story blow up on him when he was found to be using illegal aliens to remodel his house. )

While we all have to do our part and be vigiliant when we can, it is not our job to be the immigration police. I think we are all victims of a federal government which has failed to secure the borders and enforce the laws -- and dupes of a Congress which has ignored the people and allowed the situation to get out of control for decades.

When the other viable choices are candidates who don't see anything wrong with sanctuary cities and who want to give the illegals everything for free, Mitt's committment to see that the federal government secures the border and enforces the law is a much better choice for us all. Citizens should not be left holding the bag as a result of the faillure of the government to fulfill its duties.

Well...if Romney is so concerned about illegals, one would assuem that he puts his money where his mouth is (literally). The fact that he was encouraging illegals’ services while mouthing against it as recently as yesterday proves that the man is a hypocrite extraordinaire - even by a politician’s expected standards.

Rooty was right - Romney’s home (and his son’s) are sanctuary mansions (not that Rooty has any right to discuss this topic either).

I do have to hand it to you, though...whereas Mitt's defenders are vast & highly energetic on other threads, I don't seem to see them loitering around this one..

They are severely handicapped on this thread..too many people they CAN'T call "mormon bashers" and "bigots"...it's hard to debate when your main talking point is eliminated.

All I will say is we now have established a standard that says that when one contracts out private business, one needs to verify that all employees are legal.

No. The standard here is that if you are running for president in part on immigration enforcement, and you are busted in Dec. 2006 for illegal aliens working on your lawn...you don't wait until you are busted AGAIN a year later to address the situation. It's absolutely nuts that Romney didn't at the very least fire these folks (and even better, report the company to ICE) a year ago when he was made aware of this.

Even if you give him a pass before that, for the past year he has *knowingly* kept an immigration fraud employer on the payroll -- all while running on the enforcement issue. Aside from what that does or does not say about his commitment to the issue itself, it's just an incredibly boneheaded and/or arrogant political move.

Try “Babelfish”. Just go to Altavista.com, go to Babelfish translators, cut the Spanish text, paste it in browser in the “Spanish to English” box, hit return, and...viola!

Your reply cracked me up LOL. I am an older person and earned money year’s ago and I am married. Our household income can afford to have a lawn service.
But your response made me laugh all day. thanks.
