I believe Schaffer has a shot.
Of course I believed he was stronger than Coors in 2004, but Bush & Rove disagreed with me.
I agreed with Bush & Rove at the time. I thought that Schaffer was a stellar person but a poor candidate. Now I realize that I underestimated him.
Of course, if Schaffer had gotten the nomination in ‘04 and beaten Salazar, Salazar would probably be running for the open seat next year (and probably against Tancredo). Of course, if we had Schaffer as the junior Senator today, we’d have 50 GOP Senators with Cheney casting the deciding vote. Just one race can have that much of an impact.
