I am personally terrified of our national prospects given all the current crop of R candidates.
I only trust Hunter, but he's not going anywhere!
I'm going to wait for whom John Bolton supports.

Sleight of hand?
I’m sure you concur with my tagline. I urge our President to do likewise. Meanwhile, I pray for and appreciate much about him.
Cheers.

President Bush read Aquariums of Pyonyang (sp? doh!) and the Natan Sharansky book (red & grey cover - the title escapes me), a while back. I’m so grateful we’ve got General Petraeus and that our troops are such awesome warriors.

[...] British historian Andrew Roberts, whose 736-page volume, "A History of the English-Speaking Peoples Since 1900," the president had polished off months before, even before the book was released in America. I can hear one of the witches on The View already: "I don't believe it. Like he didn't have to wait for the translation!"

"wait for the translation"
All my Dem family members, friends, and co-workers are firmly convinced that Bush cannot read much less run the country. They are that stubborn in their hatred of Bush. Instead of being able to talk about significant issues with my Dem brethren and other oddballs, I'm still greeted with questions like "well, isn't Bush really stupid?" seven years after the election. I ask them how many books they've read in the past year. The answer is usually none or maybe one or two. When I tell them that Bush reads about one hundred or more books a year, naturally they refuse to believe me.

In both cases, Democrats were actively trying to undermine the President in a time of war.

Which is amazing because it seems that every “African-American” I know, which adds up to a large number, is certain that Lincoln was a Democrat! Why were they trying to undermine their own President. (Closed circuit captioned for the sarcasm impaired.)

Sarge, I surely hope that you are a miserable failure at predicting the future. I don’t like being on the same continent with her now, what would I do if she actually got elected? I need a pint of Kentucky’s finest just to think about it!

In fact, after Lincoln was assassinated, his VP, Johnson, a dem, sabotaged Lincoln's plans for reconstruction and reunification. You've got it bass-ackwards. Johnson tried to implement Lincoln's plan and the "firebrands" in Congress who wanted the South punished impeached him for it. Johnson was a Democrat and a southerner who chose to stick with the Union and the Republican hotheads never forgave him for either.

Actually, the parallels between 1864 and 2007 go farther than just getting the right generals in the right place and the right time. In both cases, Democrats were actively trying to undermine the President in a time of war.
Very true, and like Bush, Lincoln also had to deal with some Republicans trying to undermine him from the other direction as well. (See some of the posts on this thread.)

I didn't like that line either but I think he was trying to make a joke and it fell flat.
Another thing similar to President's Lincoln and Bush is that both had retired/fired military leaders bad-mouth them afterwards.

He will not get any support from me until he apologizes for the “See you at the signing.” remark. I also want one for the you are either with us or against us immigration remark. Until those happen not one penny to the Rep Party.

I am concerned that the Democrats and other Liberals are becoming so unhinged about the Irag War that they might try to get a contract out on General Patraeus.
I have no doubt that Moveon.org and Soros would do it if they could.
