I don’t know a darned thing about running a mall, but I do know the risks of being a small business owner carrying cash deposits to the bank night deposit. I would refuse to be a sitting duck for any thief who simply watched to see what I drove, where I parked, and what day I made the deposits. If I could not carry for my own protection, and the mall provided no armed protection, I would not rent from them. It’s difficult for me to believe that any small retailer would feel safe in a place like that in this day and age - and I’m not even considering a whacko teenager who wants to shoot up the place and become FAMOUS!

9mm. According to the S/N # it was made in 1969. It's in 98% condition and a really great shooter.

That SN should be a 69C with four numerical digits after it, same as on mine.

The grips on mine eventually swelled [tropics] and split, and were subsequently replaced with Canadian military issue black nylon versions. And mine's been fitted with the stud-andring pistol lanyard loop from an Australian L9A1 service pistol.

Yours also appears a good bet less used than mine, which has over 90,000 rounds logged through it, mostly ball ammo. Mostly.

Fights come to people who are looking for them.

Of course they do, just as they can as easily come to those who are unprepared and want nothing to do with fighting. But the choice is not always theirs to make.

The difference is that those who are prepared are more likely to survive, and tell the tale:

There I was....

In all honesty gun ownership is pointless today. You are not going to be able to prevent a tyrannical goverment from taking over, period. Why? Well, it’s already happening and will complete in another decade. We are not going to be a democracy much longer, unless we call socialism democracy. That is really why the founding fathers meant in the right to bear arms, to repel what they had just left.

Flame on if it makes you feel better, but gun ownership wont be a right much longer, in order to have gun ownership you must have belief in God, otherwise, gun ownership is meyham and destruction, which is what we are seeing now. It will get far worse as time goes on, frankly, I could care less about gun ownership, it means nothing

I don’t carry a gun…

… to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don’t carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I don’t carry a gun because I’m paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don’t carry a gun because I’m evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don’t carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don’t carry a gun because I’m angry. I carry a gun so that I don’t have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don’t carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don’t carry a gun because I’m a cowboy. I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don’t carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don’t carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.

I don’t carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

“Police Protection” is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves.

Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

it’s better to be caught with a gun than to be caught without one.

Mr J. not sure why you feel that way. I have been in two “civilian” shootings. Both times I had to go and get the weapon from the car. Since I have started packing as a regular thing my life has been smooth sailing. Many of my friends who had trouble in the past now pack and all have very quite lives. Is this just your opinion or do you have some data?

Does it help that the SKS was never an “assalt weapon” for purposes of the Fedeal ban? I boght a brand new Russian version during the ban. Bayonet and all.

So officially, this scumbag didn’t use an “assault rifle”.

“he Omaha mall has posted signs requiring citizens to enter unarmed,”

What I’d like to see is a MALL that has this sign:

WARNING : SHOPPERS ARE ARMED. CRIMINALS PROHIBITED UNDER PENALTY OF BEING SHOT.

WHERE WERE THE SHEEPDOGS!?!?!

Notice the ages and sexes of the victims. Old men, middle aged women, for the most part. Not your classic sheepdog demographics. Some Texas old women, and old men OTOH... well I remember the granny from Arlington who shot the intruder in her home, all while the 911 operator is saying "Tell her not to shoot him" and then "tell her not to shoot him *again*". Or the more recent "Old duffer" verses two much younger thugs in Pasadena, who demonstrated how a 12 gauge evens the odds, or actually tips them to the old dude, provided he's the one with the shotgun.

We now have plenty of hard evidence that most gun control laws don’t work and that “gun free zones” are lunatic magnets.

It's never been about evidence, or logic, it's about FEELINGS, and demagoguery by those who want power and a disarmed populace.

I suppose that an “assault rifle” is any rifle that someone wants to ban.

The light comes on. :)

Or it's a "sniper rifle".

Any handgun they want to ban is a Saturday Night Special. Or it's a Hand Cannon. Or it's "unsafe".
