Superhighway

This story is nonsense and BS. Its a rumor going on for years. By the time they are finished we run out of Oil.
This super highway already exists, its across the Rio Grande, by foot.

1) El Camino Real is state Highway 1 on the California coast.

2) Where’s the proof that the Highway labeled as “NAFTA...”, is in fact 16 lanes?

There’s no way that this is an advantage. Our weapons and tactics do not depend on road access to our enemies, while all our enemies need access, and would find great imporvement in that corrider.

Leaving illegal immigration aside, and the illegal immigrants aren’t generally driving across the border, our population increases to grow naturally from the birthrate of US citizens.

We will continue to need to need new or wider roads just to handle the increasing population unless we come up with a new form of transportation that works as well as motor vehicles and doesn’t require roads.

Not building new roads or widening existing ones will not deter illegal immigration. Using illegal immigration, or the ridiculous assertion that adding more pavement ensures our military defeat, to oppose new roads is nonsense.

I expect a better level of discussion at FR than this. Throwing some unrelated hot button issue into a real discussion is crazy.

You seriously think that if we built a wide highway, maybe 8 or 10 lanes in each direction, that Mexico will invade and conquer us.

Did Iraq make that mistake and build such a highway that allowed us to defeat them? Is all that Mexico needs to defeat us is a few more yards of pavement?

Do you have the slightest clue of the relative strength of our armies? The slightest clue about our Air Force? Do you have even the slightest clue about how many bases we have domestically and how they are manned?

You are afraid of a frickin' road. That is pathetic. It's less than cowardly, it's downright pathetic.

You're afraid of a road. I hope you never see your own shadow, you'll freak out.

Cut the crap. 12 lanes would be 168 feet, not 1200 feet.

This thing is a military corrider that we don’t need.

It’s not crap, and you know damn well that it’s not all going to be traffic lanes, but pipeline corridors, etc.

It’s just stupid to suggest that someone needs a highway to invade any country. It’s never been required before.

Make up another excuse to opposes needed progress, but the military angle is ridiculous.
