COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (CNN) -- A Colorado Springs megachurch instituted security precautions after a shooting at a Denver area mission center earlier Sunday, saving "hundreds of lives" at the New Life Church, senior Pastor Brady Boyd said Monday.
A New Life parishioner acting as a security guard shot and killed a gunman who entered the church Sunday afternoon after he had gotten no more than 50 feet inside the building, Boyd said.

Boyd said the female security guard was a hero in preventing further bloodshed, rushing to confront the gunman just inside the church.
"She probably saved over a hundred lives," Boyd said of the guard, whom he said is not a law enforcement officer and used her personal weapon.

"Hundreds of lives were saved yesterday because of the plan that was put in place," said Boyd, who put the number of people on the church campus at the time as 7,000.

'Tis better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. And, unless you're from the People's Republic of Chapel Hill, I think that you'd have a hard time finding a jury that would convict. Especially if the object of your exercise was about to shoot up a church.

People who believe that Jesus was saying do not defend yourself or your property by way of this verse are ignorant of what Jesus actually said and what he actually taught.
The admonition to turn the other cheek was in reference to putting up with insults without seeking retribution. When he tells them to sell their cloak and buy a sword, he was telling them that they were responsible for their own protection from bandits and murderers.
Had the gunman scrawled obscene graffiti on the Church, and the Church had not pressed charges, that would have been an example of turning the other cheek. This woman exhibited the correct behavior as Jesus told us we are responsible for our own safety and of those under our care.
The 2nd amendment defined.

Apparently fired 10-12 shots at the perp. I’d bet some of them were in the pelvis area, and that will stop things pretty quick.
The male victim who was rushing the shooter along with the female guard said. “I told her that was great shooting and she said she was praying and asking the Holy Spirit to direct her actions the entire time.”
Stories are sketchy, but one account has the perp with 500+ rounds and 4 firearms.
Was he using an AR series ?
The male rusher may have diverted or divided the perp’s attention just enough to allow the female shooter to get off accurate aimed shots.
With God Almighty lining up her sights and steadying her hands.

Turning the other cheek refers to being slapped or maybe punched, neither of which is usually lethal. Plus, they didn't have guns in the day that statement was originally made. Anyway, your statement is like unto one who claims to be a Christian in order to denigrate a religion as if it were one's own. I do that with Catholicism from time to time, since I was baptised and raised a Catholic for the first 15 years of my life. And when the Islams come to carve your head off, make sure you cooperate, OK?

All it took the lady shooter was 10 or 12 shots, to put down the maniac with 500 rounds on him.

Your point is quite valid, we do have a tendency to overuse the moniker of courage, especially with sports figures. However, given the information we have, this person truly did act heroically. Another person, job or not, might have turned tail and run when the shots were fired, but she faced the threat with little regard for her own safety, knowing that many other lives were threatened. She deserves the praise she is getting and any honors that may be bestowed upon her for her heroic actions.
She may well have done so, but it appears that she followed Luke 22:36 as well.
I'd remind you, DumbBlond, that every person in the US Military right now has been "hired" to do the jobs they are doing. All of the Police and Firemen at the World Trade Center were paid to do the jobs they were doing.
