COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (CNN) -- A Colorado Springs megachurch instituted security precautions after a shooting at a Denver area mission center earlier Sunday, saving "hundreds of lives" at the New Life Church, senior Pastor Brady Boyd said Monday.
A New Life parishioner acting as a security guard shot and killed a gunman who entered the church Sunday afternoon after he had gotten no more than 50 feet inside the building, Boyd said.

Boyd said the female security guard was a hero in preventing further bloodshed, rushing to confront the gunman just inside the church.
"She probably saved over a hundred lives," Boyd said of the guard, whom he said is not a law enforcement officer and used her personal weapon.

Not surprising around devout Christian families, particularly those with a history of evangelical work outside the country, as was apparantly the case with the Works girls.

I got the impression she was a member volunteer for the church security team, who happened to have a CCW.
Hate to say it, but 99 out of 100 churches this would have turned out ugly.
Here in Los Angeles, the synagogues hire plainclothes armed security for the holidays and during times of raise awareness....perhaps some do it all the time....I had someone ask me once if I was interested...and I thought it would be easy money...until something happened that is.
I’m sure others have posted this (I just don’t have enough time before work to run through the entire thread) - but as a simple reminder, please say a prayer for the ‘security guard,’ because she did not wake up Sunday morning hoping to shoot anyone, and (right now) it probably looks (to her) like her worst nightmare...

Ive been very lazy.
Routinely, I carry either a glock 19 or a Walther P-99 in 9mm, usually no extra mag.
I dragged out my old Galco Miami Classic Shoulder holster for my Glock that takes two extra mags..That’s what? 52 rounds?
It doesn’t seem to be enough these days.

It's almost certainly enough for 95% of the multiple shooter events that take place. But like you, I like to hedge my bets.
You might consider the 33-round magazines for the 9mm Glock machinepistol, which if nothing else offer the opportunity to tape a pair together, giving you a convenient means of carrying 66 spare rounds that need not be loaded into seperate magazines should their use be required. And they'll work just fine in your G19.
At present the things can be had for $12.99 each *here*. And should a future high-cap magazine ban be pursued, they'll be worth at least triple that.

Or a Czech Vz52. While resident in Memphis, my usual truck gun was a 7,62mm Mauser C96 *Broomhandle* pistol, since the carry of a loaded rifle or shotgun was a violation of TN state law, but even with stock attached the broomie was legally and technically a *pistol.* The addition of a 10-round magazine extension, which gave me 20 rounds without reloading [and better, allowed me to top things back up with a 10-round *stripper clip* charger once my ammo tank was half-empty] improved things even better still.
And, if penetration of ballistic vests is the name of the game, the purpose for which the FN 5,7 was reportedly designed, the 7,62x25 Tokarev cartridge has another possibility that might interest you:
