Colorado Church Gunman `Hated Christians'
Houston Chronicle ^ | 12-10-07 | Judith Kohler

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The deadly shooting sprees at a megachurch and a missionary training school were believed to have been carried out by the same person — a 24-year-old suburban Denver man who "hated Christians," a law enforcement official told The Associated Press.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the investigation, identified the gunman as Matthew Murray, the son of a neurologist who is a prominent researcher on multiple sclerosis.

Five people — including a gunman — were killed, and five others wounded Sunday in the two eruptions of violence 12 hours and 65 miles apart.

The first attack took place at a youth missionary training center in the Denver suburb of Arvata; the other happened at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, where the gunman was shot and killed by a security guard.

The law enforcement official said Murray was believed to be the gunman in both attacks. Murray did not appear to have a criminal history but "hated Christians," the official said. The official did not know Murray's religion, if any.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE.

"The greater environment, as you put it, is too general a description of the anti-Christian movement."

I find your definition of the progressive movement to be too narrow. It is actually an Anti-religion movement and to be even more specific an anti-organization movement. Christianity is simply the biggest first target. Hey..it worked in Europe..so the marxists are trying it here.

...who blew his own head off with a homebrew bomb outside the stadium about two years ago.

He tried to get in the stadium with a bomb in a backpack.

They wouldn't let him in with the backpack, so he was transferring the bomb from the backpack to around his waist under his shirt.

He had a work-related accident.

The article claims that the shooter is the son of a neurologist who specializes in multiple sclerosis, if this is true, the young man is a Canadian. I think that we had better wait for some more reliable information than what we have now.

It is called a “beanie” aka Watch Cap - NOT a “skullcap”. A “skullcap” is a whole different thing - a watch-cap is cold weather gear...

The reason that the secular progressives focus on Christianity is because the Republican Party has been identified with the fundamentalist movement, through the moral majority. By demeaning and marginalizing Christian thought, the left hopes to marginalize the whole Republican Party. It is also the basis for the leftist media push to help nominate Huckabee as the Republican presidential candidate.

What would possess you to think that passage had anything to do with 21st century America? You know what Jesus says after listing all of those things? He says this: “I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.” All those things did indeed happen in that generation, in the events in and surrounding the Roman siege and destruction of Jerusalem around 70AD and concurrent events throughout the Roman empire.

On October 23, 1990, an Oregon jury awarded a $12.5 million judgment against Tom Metzger and his son, John, for their role in inciting neo-Nazi skinheads to murder Mulugeta Seraw, an Ethiopian immigrant.

Though the Metzgers, leaders of White Aryan Resistance (WAR), did not participate in the killing, Morris Dees of the SPLC contended that WAR's message of racial hatred was what motivated the attackers. The jury agreed. The SPLC won the lawsuit against Metzger even though the neo-Nazi skinheads were not members of WAR but had been exposed to WAR's violent messages.

So whose messages influenced this murderer?

Speaking anecdotally, one of the biggest causes of rebellion in Christian children is legalism.

Good point. One of the most anti-Christian people I know grew up in The Worldwide Church Of God.

Legalism is the term people use to blame their rebellion on someone else instead of the real reason, their own sinful heart.

One report described Matthew Murray as being “home schooled”. Matthew Murray was 24 years old! Seems like a gratuitous shot against home schoolers.

Talk about a smear. He was attending the University of Oklahoma. Wonder if the press will ask them if their teachings were responsible? I won't hold my breath.

I believe their target as a whole is much larger than just the Republican party in America. The "progressive" movement is a world movement. In a world of globalization we need to look beyond the traditional political landscape of just Dems vs Republicans. The world progressive movement (see marxist) has hijacked the Democrat Party. Their end goal is to remove any source of opposition (organization)that is an obstacle. The divisions you see being emphasized in the Dem party, men vs women, gays vs straights, race vs race, religious vs atheist are exploitable tools needed to bring down the Republic as we know it.

The Christian Church in America is the only organization that has an emphasis on grace, forgiveness and togetherness despite what the liberal media says. If they can bring that down all other organizations will fall like a house of cards. Oh yes..you are right, the church is being targeted and the lines are falsely drawn between the "parties", but the end goal is to erase the parties all together.
